It had been a few days since she had learned that her biological father was dead and that he had been Sirius Black's brother. It was still all new to her. She had been going through some old photos when she decided to visit Hogsmeade. She needed a drink but didn't have what she wanted at her house. "Not this time, girl." She told her dog when she saw her getting up.
She apparated to Hogsmeade, once there she looked up where the school was and smiled. Sometimes she thought about applying to be a professor just so she could give back to the school. She shook her head then headed to The Three Broomsticks. She took in the scene of the old pub. She could remember visiting the place in school. She walked over to the bar then sat on one of the bar stools.
She looked around and took everything in, it felt strange being back after all those years being away. She couldn't believe that everything looked the same even after the war. Pushing back those memories she ordered a butterbeer. She held her fathers ring that still hung from a chain around her neck. She closed her eyes wishing she could remember his face, his voice but she sighed knowing that she couldn't. She opened her eyes as her drink was brought to her. She smiled at the barmaid before taking a drink.

JD wandered down the familiar path to Hogsmeade. He hadn't assigned homework the past Friday, something himself and his students thanked him for, and as Jordan was off with friends he had decided that a drink or two might do him right. Not like they could get mad at him, it was his day off after all. So with his hands shoved deep in his pocket he took the familiar and very worn path from Hogwarts Castle to the Three Broomsticks. Pushing open the faded wood door, he took a seat at the bar not far from a pretty blonde girl. It was difficult for JD to recognize she was attractive at first. Mostly because the only women he was ever around were staff, and generally taken, or students, which was just wrong. And then Jordan. It was because of work, yes. But Jordan had voiced to him a few weeks ago that it might be because of Lianna. Though he had understood and accepted what was technically a betrayal he had never really gotten over it. Jordan told him he needed to. That he wasn't getting any younger. I should ground her for that, he chuckled to himself. "Hey," he called to the barmaid with a smile, "Her drinks," he pointed to the blonde, "The petty blonde girl. Her drinks are on me tonight." He needed to start somewhere. This girl wasn't likely to be the one. She was young. A lot younger than he was. But it was starting and Jordan would hopefully be proud of him for that. Taking his drink from the barmaid, she seemed to know everyone's regular drink, he flashed a smile at the blonde. Hopefully she doesn't think I'm horrendously creepy. I really do like this bar.

She didn't know what to think of someone she didn't know say her drinks were on him let alone being called 'the pretty blonde girl'. She looked over at him and saw his smile, she thought he was handsome. "And what's the name of the man buying my drinks?" Not that she was going to be getting more. She didn't think he looked familiar so she assumed they had never met.
She shook her head then went back to her drink while she listened for his reply, she didn't understand why anyone would pay for a complete strangers drinks. Unless, of course, they wanted something from it. Ras was not the kinda girl to do something like that so she hoped he was just a kindhearted person and not the other kind. It felt like it was yesterday when she had last been in the pub when it had been years. She couldn't tell how old the man was but he seemed to be a tad older then her. Of course her uncle seemed just a tad older then her when in fact he was older then she first thought. She glanced at the man out of the corner of her eyes.

"Jonathan," he answered, answering simply and seemingly surprised by her want to talk to him, "There are a bunch of other names tacked on but I don't think their very important. You can call me JD. Or Jonny. Or any other name you want to make up," his eyes went wide with surprised at the jumble of words that seemed to just continuously tumble from his mouth, "Sorry. My brain to mouth filter seems off. And given that I work with teenagers I'm not really used to people listening to all of my words. In fact, I think it would be in my best interest if I just asked you you name and shut up before I embarrass myself even more. So, what's your name?" Thinking back on it JD was pretty sure that after Jordan was born he lost the ability to flirt and be suave. Like he was back in school. The laid back boy who didn't seem to care about anything was apparently attractive. And then Jordan as born and that reputation kind of fizzled out of existence. Not that this girl probably even knew of that reputation. She seemed much closer to Jordan's fourteen years rather than his thirty-four. Oh my god I'm 34! his bani shrieked, though his face betrayed nothing of his thoughts as he awaited the woman's answer with a sheepish smile. I'm that guy! The dad who flirts with way to young of girls. Please let her be extremely mature. Or slutty. No! Mature. JD was starting to wish that he could just turn his brain off now. Return to that cool, smooth, non-caring boy he was back in school. And not a teacher. Not a dad. And not some random old guy in a bar flirting with a girl ho couldn't be much older than his daughter. The only real comfort he took was knowing she was legal and he hadn't seen her in any of his classes, which didn't mean she didn't graduate recently. He had only been teaching at Hogwarts for 3 years and his class wasn't even required for 6th and 7th years. Just turn you brain off Jonny boy and it will all go fine.

Ras giggled at his rambling. "Rasalas. It's nice to meet you, Johnny." She smiled at him before taking a sip of her drink. "Do you work around here?" She needed to get a job but she just hasn't thought of where she really wanted to work. They are a lot of places she would like to work at but none of them was what she really wanted. Why are you thinking about jobs? She took a deep breath then looked at Johnny. "You can call me Ras if you prefer."
She looked around the pub again, she couldn't stop herself, the place brought back so many memories. Some good and some bad. "It's been a while since I've been here but it feels like it was just yesterday." She didn't know what made her visit Hogsmeade, perhaps she thought she would run into Snape or maybe even Dumbledore. Though she would rather run into Snape then the headmaster seeing as she might have more to say to her old professor and head of house. She shook her head then turned her attention back to the man she was speaking to. She sipped on her drink while she waited for him to speak.

"Defense Against The Dark Arts professor. 3 years running so I think I've broken some kind of record," JD chuckled, taking a sip of his drink and smiling at her. She really was a pretty girl. Though she seemed...unhappy. The way she looked around the pub and sighed was his first indication. With a slight frown, he scooted his way so he was sitting on the stool next to hers and gingerly placed his hand on her shoulder, "If you need a friend right now I can stop flirting. I don't mind. I get that sometimes people just need a friend."
So he didn't really want to stop flirting. Not that he was trying to shag her this evening. But he did fancy the idea of seeing her again. But right now, that might not be what she needed. And if JD had learned anything from his daughter it was sometimes a guy just looking at you sincerely, asking you what's wrong and wanting to help is all it takes to talk about whatever's bothering a girl. He didn't know how true that was, it worked on Jordan, so he figured he might as well test it out. "I mean, I'm gonna keep telling you that you're extraordinarily beautiful but friends can do that right?" Once more he chuckled at his own little joke and gave her a grin.

"It's nothing, just old memories." She was also wondering if her father had visited the place but she didn't want to lay her life's story on the man. She had just met him and didn't feel like finding out she was related to someone else in the same week. She held her fathers ring, "Just went through a lot a few days ago." She told him without looking at him, if he asked she would tell him but she didn't want to just blurt it all out.
She hadn't even told her family yet, it wasn't something one could just drop onto the family. She still hadn't thought of an easy way to tell them, she would probably write to her brother and ask him to meet her somewhere. She took a deep breath before downing her butterbeer. "Firewhiskey, please." She thought butterbeer would help but she needed something stronger to do the trick.
She looked at Johnny then asked, "That is a record, when I was at Hogwarts they was a new Defense professor each year." She blushed at his words 'extraordinarily beautiful' and shook her head. "Not the friends I've had, Slytherin's weren't all that open to complimenting each other on their looks."

"Well you are extraordinarily beautiful. Slytherin's do seem more focused on their own beauty than others. So you used to be in Slytherin? When'd you graduate?" Now he was slyly trying to figure out her age. He figured ignoring her earlier comments were for the best. She clearly didn't want to talk about it so he wasn't going to make her. She knew the offer was out there and that's what was important. "I've heard stories of different Defense teachers. So far I think I'm the most liked. At least, that's what my daughter tells me the students say," had that come out? Had he really just mentioned his daughter to a woman that he was flirting with? Clearly he wasn't cut out for this whole flirting thing. He had brought up his daughter. "Okay. So that covers that I'm old and have a kid. So...do you want to pretend you need to use the bathroom and just sneak out or should I just leave? 'Cause really, if I were a young, beautiful, you really are beautiful I know I keep saying it but wow, woman like you I could be having some much younger, not father person flirting with me. So really, no offense." Jordan's gonna mock me forever!

Ras blushed. "About three years ago." She smiled thinking he was trying to figure out how old she was. "I have to disagree with you, Remus Lupin was the best Defense professor." She looked at him with wide eyes, he was a father and he was ashamed of it? "I am not that kind of girl, Mr. Wakes, I wouldn't care if she was with you." She furrowed her brows. "Well I would care if she was with you and you were flirting with me."
She laughed at his rambling, "You're cute when you ramble." She smiled at him before downing her drink. She blushed at the fact that she had admitted that, she took a deep breath then looked at him, "I lied before, well partly lied. I do have memories here but there is something bothering me." She looked down as she tried to figure out if she wanted to tell him or not.
I learned the other day my uncle is Sirius Black... no.. can't say that... I don't know how I can tell someone that. She ran her fingers through her hair before looking at him. "It's a long story though and I doubt you want to hear it."

JD reached over and took her hand into his own. "I want to hear it but only if you want to tell me. I know what keeping something inside can do to a person sometimes. And no one should suffer like that. I don't mind being here for you." It wasn't a line. Yes, he found her attractive. And yes, he would love to see her again. And yes, he did in fact want to kiss her. But those things didn't matter. If she needed a friend then JD would be her friend and be everything else later. If she wanted to of course. Right now, he was going to be here for her. Because that's what good people do. And even though JD had screwed up many times in his life. One maybe being flirting with a 20 year old in a bar, he didn't want to screw up when it came to something so simple. "Feel free to tell me. But if you don't want to. I completely understand. Just know..." he bit his bottom lip lightly trying to decide if he really wanted to say the last bit, "You can always talk to me. Sometimes the people who can help us the most are the people we hardly know."

Ras took a deep breath then began her story about how her mother had abanded her when she was just one years old. She also told him about getting adopted and about her family that raised her. She told him about feeling the need of wanting to know who her real father was. "Then the other day I was shopping in Diagon Alley with my dog. When I stopped to look at a book she got look from me and ran after a mouse or something, she ended up running into a man at the ice cream shop there. He ended up being Sirius Black." She fell silent for a moment before continuing, "I told him about being adopted and he said he might be able to help me but that was after he asked if I knew my blood status. I did and told him I was Pureblood and all I had from one of my parents was this ring," she showed him the ring around her neck, "that's when he told me I was related to him through his younger brother."
She looked down before saying, "Regulus Black, my father, died." She held her head up before stating how he died. "He died trying to right a wrong." After she finished she asked for another firewhiskey needing it after telling her life's story.

JD listened to every word intently. Never saying a word. This seemed to have been built up inside of her and she needed to just let it flow out. And so he was going to do that. He'd done it many times before, it came with the whole having a teenage daughter thing, and squeezed her hand lightly as she finished her story. "That's a lot to go through, Ras," he stated simply, looking at her with those caring eyes of his, "And no person should have to go through that much. But it shows me something. It shows me that you're incredibly brave and strong," he pushed a piece of her hair back behind her ear, "And those hardships, that hole you have to dig yourself out of. Well that's what makes you the most beautiful I think." He took a deep breath and took a long swig of his firewhiskey, "Regulus only has to be your father if you want him to be. Just because you share his genes doesn't mean he's your father. Whatever you decide, decide because it's what you want. And I will be here. I will support you every step of the way." It was fair to say he liked her. He may've only known her a short time but that didn't mean anything. Love was knowing and caring, yes. But attraction and feelings, well those were pure animal instinct. A mix between pheromones and other such chemicals. And if he wanted to be with her, which JD was becoming more and more sure that he did, than he would need to support her. Be a friend and then something more.

"I do claim him as my father and I always will. I will be proud to call him my father since he died trying to help the world be rid of Voldemort." She would have cried over his death after learning about it but she didn't know the man and couldn't remember him. She was also proud of calling Sirius her uncle as he had a hand in ending the war. She wished though that her father had followed in Sirius's footsteps so that he might have been alive today.
She sighed then smiled at Johnny then shyly placed her free hand on his cheek. "I don't know if it's the booze talking or me but I like you, you're sweet and funny and very kind." She didn't know if she wanted to kiss him then or wait until they knew each other better. A part of her was telling her to go for it but the other part was telling herself to get a grip on it and wait.
She bit her lower lip as she glanced at his lips before leaning forward and kissing him. She really hoped she was sober and was doing this free of being drunk and was able to put the breaks on if need be.

The kiss caught him a little off guard. And he prayed it wasn't the booze. His age, and no doubt having a child, had helped him learn limits and also mildly increased his alcohol tolerance. But he wasn't sure about her. None of these thoughts crossed his mind though. He simply kissed her back. Nothing passionate or intense. No just a simple, sweet kiss back. He was going to let her have control of the reigns on this situation. He had made it very clear that he was interested in her and so it was her situation to control. If she asked him to stop, he'd stop. And if she didn't...well he really wouldn't stop. He may've just met her. And they may've had an age difference that equaled his daughter's age. But she was beautiful. And fun. And easy to talk to. And though he didn't love her, he did really like her though, he trusted that if she gave him a chance he really could. In all the ways he hadn't loved Jordan's mother. "You have a very kissable mouth," he mumbled against her lips, letting himself lace his fingers with her own, "And I enjoy kissing it very much."

Ras seemed to have came to her senses as she blushed a deep red before running out of the pub. She didn't know what had came over her, she had just met the man and yet she had told him her life's story and just kissed him. You are an idiot, Ras! She yelled at herself as she found a bench and sat down. She hated that she had kissed someone she had just met, it couldn't have been the booze as she had barely drank any on her second one.
What is wrong with me? She asked herself as she hugged herself as she looked at the ground. She really felt confused about what had just happened, she had kissed a man she didn't really know but she had liked it. She thought he was cute or rather handsome and sure she liked the way he acted and treated her. She shook her head, he was older then her and had a daughter. She didn't know why that didn't bother her, she knew most girls her age would be bothered by it.
She hated that she was confused about it, something told her to go for it but then something else was telling her to find someone her own age. It was like a battle was gong on inside her and she didn't know who was going to win.
