Lux was being guided by someone from the Ministry to some quacks office. It seemed that someone had thought she needed help. Of course the rumors about her having 'slept' with her step-father would be a problem. Though of course the truth was was that she had been raped by the man her mother had married.
She didn't think she needed help, nope, to her she was fine and normal. The man guiding her told her to have a seat while he spoke to whoever she was being forced to see. She had on black boots and her school uniform, her hair was up in a ponytail and her arms were crossed.
She listened as the man knocked on the office door. She had a scowl on her face as she didn't want to be there and she thought she would show it. She would never talk to anyone she didn't deem worthy enough. Though that was where Sam fit in, at that time her only friend and ally. She glared at the man and spat out, "I don't need help!"
Of course she knew other people would see it as her being in denial about the whole thing. Though what they needed to understand was that she had been raped and not the other.

Well, this next appointment was certainly going to be an interesting one. This patient, instead of coming to Eloise of her own free will, had been basically assigned to see a psychiatrist. The faculty and some people at the Ministry were worried about her and had decided that Dr. Clarke was who she would start seeing. The woman had quite the reputation, after all, and they figured that the young Miss Blackwood would be more comfortable with a female psychiatrist.
And so, Ellie was waiting in her office, behind her desk, in a set of traditional robes. They weren't fancy or ornate; just plain robes. As it was to be Miss Blackwood's first session, Ellie would have quite a few things to learn about her newest client.
She had a feeling that the young woman wouldn't particularly want to talk to her, at least at first. Which was fine with Ellie; she had dealt with plenty of recalcitrant clients and had almost always managed to get them to talk to her eventually. Once they opened up, it almost seemed as though they couldn't stop talking. And Ellie let them talk out their frustrations, angers, fears, and doubts, whatever they wanted to tell her. Only then would she try to talk them through their troubles.
From what she'd heard of others in her field, it was rather unusual for her to get to know her patients as well as she did, especially because she took extra time, outside of the office, to get to know almost all of her patients personally. Yes, it was unorthodox, but she was perfectly capable of keeping the relationships outside of the office on a professional sort of level, even if she did consider most of her clients to be friends as well as patients.
Now, though, it was time for her to prepare for her newest patient. She didn't really know much about the girl, just that people thought that she needed a psychiatrist. Which meant that she would be talking to the girl about why others thought that sort of thing. It was always good to know why people chose to see her, even if someone else had made the decision for Miss Blackwood.
At the knock on her door, Ellie stood. "Come on in," she called. That would be Miss Blackwood now.

Lux stood up then as he opened the door he grabbed her arm. She jerked her arm out of his grip, "Don't touch me." She said before walking into the room, she flinched slightly when the door was shut. She didn't like it when men grabbed her arm or anything, and yet they still thought she slept with her step-father. She didn't understand how people could believe something like that. Why in the world would Lux want to sleep with him? No one seemed to think of that, only that she was troubled because she had slept with him.
She glared at the woman as she crossed her arms once again. She wanted her to know that she did not want to be there. She looked around then saw a window seat, she had to stop herself from smiling before walking over to it and sitting down. She stared out the window as she did her hair turned a dark brown. She liked looking outside but she didn't really feel at ease where she was. She also didn't feel like talking to the woman, the only thing that came to mind that made her feel better was that the Ministry man was gone.

It was almost painfully obvious that Miss Blackwood did not want to be here. It was equally obvious, though, that it was a good thing that Eloise had a window-seat in her office as her newest patient went straight for it.
Well, seeing as she was not going to sit in front of the desk, Ellie wouldn't stand upon ceremony or stay behind the desk. Standing, she made her way over to one of the comfortable armchairs near the window-seat and sat down, crossing her legs.
"Good afternoon, Miss Blackwood," she said with a smile. "I'm Dr. Clarke, but please, feel free to call me Eloise, Ellie, or anything else that you feel comfortable with. I'm sure you don't really want to be here, but there's no need to be nervous or anything of the kind." It was clear, though, that the young woman felt at least a little bit better, now that the man escorting her to Ellie's office had gone.
"How are you today, Miss Blackwood?" she asked, trying to show the girl, by example, that she could be at her ease when she was here, with Ellie.
It might take a little bit, though, for Miss Blackwood to relax, but Eloise was prepared to take as much time as needed to make her comfortable with being here.

Lux glared at the woman before looking back out the window. "I would be better if I were at school." She knew that normal kids hated school but Hogwarts was different... and it had Sam. A small smile slipped on her face as she thought of Sam. She was her best friend and really the only friend she had. She shook her head and forced herself not to think about Sam. She didn't need anyone trying to get her to talk about her feelings.
Some people may think she needed help but Lux didn't and she knew Sam didn't think that either. "I don't know why I'm here." She lied but she wanted to hear from the woman what they had sad about her and what she thought she needed help with.
If her father was still alive then she wouldn't be in the spot she was in. The ice on her heart melted a little at the thought of her father. He was the only other person she had loved. Until she met Sam, Sam was her best friend so of course Lux loved her. She looked at the woman's reflection in the window as she waited for her to answer her.

"I understand how that is," she responded sympathetically. "After all, school has your friends and much more interesting things while here it's just me. And you don't know me, so I can understand why you wouldn't particularly want to be here."
Ellie had been about to ask Miss Blackwood about why she was here when the girl said that she didn't know the reason. After years of being a psychiatrist, Eloise had become quite skilled at being able to tell when someone was lying to her and when someone was telling the truth.
She knew that Miss Blackwood was lying to her, but she didn't quite comment on that yet. It was understandable, at this point, especially considering what the poor girl had gone through.
Plus, her ... friends hadn't believed her when she'd told them what happened. That couldn't have helped the situation at all, she was sure.
Even though Miss Blackwood was trying to hide how she felt, Ellie saw her expression soften a bit. Of course, she wasn't sure what the girl was thinking about (even if she had been a Legilimens, she wouldn't have used that skill on her patients), but she would hopefully open up and tell her, at some point.
"Well, in that case, why don't you tell me a little bit about yourself," Ellie suggested with a smile. "Or if you'd rather not, I can tell you something about me." It was entirely up to her, at this point, to direct the conversation and where it could be headed.

Lux took a deep breath as she tried her best to remain calm like Sam did. She wanted to feel the pain of the blade she had back at school. That pain reminded her she was alive and it helped her cope with everything. "What? Don't you know everything about me already? I'm sure they told you how 'troubled' I am." Her tone was sarcastic and she had used her fingers to make air quotes when she said troubled. To her she was normal, just like Sam was normal. No one understood that, she was glad though that no one knew she had been cutting herself or they might have searched her trunk.
Her features hardened the more upset she got, she just wanted to feel the pain of the blade to make her forget all of this. "Like I told that man, I don't need help." She turned her head to look at the woman, "I am just a normal teenager that just has some issues to live with and through." True she was confused about her feelings about Sam but that was another story altogether. What she was there about were the stories about her sleeping with her step-father. She was not going to go down that memory lane for no one. She had told her ex-friends what happened but they didn't believe her. Though when she had told Sam, she had believed her and comforted her.

"Oh, I never said you needed help, Miss Blackwood. I'm here for you to talk to, about some things that you might not perhaps feel comfortable telling people you know. Or anything you might want to say, period."
Sometimes, it was better to try to be a friend first, psychiatrist later. And it looked like that was going to be the case for Miss Lux Blackwood.
"So," she smiled, "Is there anything you would want to tell me about yourself? Or we can just talk about your favorite classes or Quidditch team, or anything else you'd like to talk about."
She just hoped that Miss Blackwood decided to talk about something; this would be quite difficult, otherwise. However, if she didn't talk, Ellie would be perfectly capable of making small talk, and, hopefully, she would catch Miss Blackwood's interest sooner or later.

Lux glared at the woman, she just wasn't going to give up. After a few more moments of silence Lux looked out the window as she held the silver star. "All I want is my dad back." She whispered. That was all she ever wanted after he had died, though she knew that would never happen.
"The only classes I like is Potions and Defense, as for Quidditch, I like my houses team only because my best friend plays on it." Lux wasn't gong to make this all that easy as she didn't like people that act like they don't know anything.
Lux turned to the woman, "Why don't you tell me what you know about me and I will tell you if it is right or wrong." It wasn't a question it was more like a statement. She wanted to know what this woman had on her besides what people thought of her. She knew that the only way she would trust the woman was if she had had something horrible happen to her in the past.
Though Lux doubted that anything could compare to losing a father and being raped by a step-father. words:202 tags:Ellie notes:sorry it took so long and I will get to Ras asap

Eloise let Lux stay quiet for a while; forcing her to talk wouldn't really accomplish anything. "I know what you mean," she murmured. "My grandparents died when I was seven. It was not their time, at all; they were killed in a car crash," she told the girl.
She crossed her legs, nodding as Lux talked. Even if Lux wanted to talk about the weather it would be something. It was certainly better than a simple refusal to talk, after all.
"What do you like about Potions and Defense?" she asked, interested. There had to be some sort of reason those were her favorite classes. She smiled again as Lux told her about Quidditch. "Your best friend, eh? Why don't you tell me about your best friend? I would love to hear about them, since he or she obviously means so much to you." Really, at this point, she was just trying to keep Lux talking, about pretty much anything.
Ellie leaned back in her chair, gazing at Lux with an unreadable expression. "Your step-father raped you, didn't he?" she asked softly. There was more to this than what she'd been told, and she doubted they'd have sent this girl to her if she had simply decided to sleep with her step-father one day.

Lux sat in silence while she listened to her talk, she even remained silent after she finished telling her about her grandparents. Lux but her lower lip as she went back to looking out the window. She shrugged when she was asked about what she liked about the classes. She didn't know really, she had always liked those classes.
She smiled though when asked about her best friend. "She is the only person I can trust, she never believed the rumors about me." And Sam was the only one that believed her. She was lost in thought as she thought about Sam, the girl hated her father calling her Sammy but didn't mind Lux calling her that.
But at the woman's voice and words she came crashing back down to reality. She looked at the woman's reflection in the window unsure of what to say. She didn't know if she should tell the truth or lie. Unbeknownst to Lux she was shaking as the memories flooded back. She had been just fifteen, fifteen! And that man she was suppose to try to look up to raped her. She didn't even feel the tears running down her cheek.
She didn't even know that she had covered her face as she cried so when the memories finally stopped she didn't remember how she got the way she was. Her feet was on the floor and her elbows on her knees with her face in her hands... and she was crying.
Even though she wanted to stop crying, she couldn't. She supposed she had been keeping the pain and tears bottled up for so long that once the dam burst it was hard to stop. words:291 tags:Ellie notes:

"She sounds like she's just the sort of person a best friend should be," Ellie smiled, making a small note on her clip-board. If she took any notes, she tried to make them as inconspicuous as possible; it was usually less awkward for her patients that way.
And then Lux started to cry. Eloise had known it was a risk, coming right out with her suspicions, but obviously, she'd been right. Poor girl!
Standing, Ellie took the box of tissues from her desk, walked over to the window-seat, and offered the box to Lux.
"It's all right, Lux," she murmured in a comforting sort of way. "This is a safe place; you can talk about anything you want to, here, and no one will be able to ridicule you or try to hurt you for it." Hopefully, she would believe her.
"Do you want to talk about it?" she asked, voice still soft. "And what rumors are you talking about?" Clearly, they were not exactly the best rumors. Granted, rumors were usually not very pleasant, but Lux's reaction seemed to indicate to her that these particular rumors were worse than the average story that was passed around school corridors.

Lux calmed down a bit as she took some of the tissues, after blowing her nose she nodded. "It was over the summer..." She trailed off, she fought back the memories from flooding back once more. She looked up at the woman, "My old friends stared a rumor that I slept with my step father willingly." She hugged herself as she spoke.
"She is really the only friend have, it's mainly because I don't know who believes the rumors or who doesn't." She looked down at the floor, she took a deep breath before speaking again. "After my dad died, I was sent to live with my mother and step-father, I was fourteen then but after I turned fifteen he raped me. I told my mother but she didn't believe me."
She didn't know what else she could have done, "I don't want to live there anymore, I don't want to go back there again." She was afraid she would be raped again if she did go back. When she looked at the woman the fear that she felt was evident in her eyes. She wished she could live somewhere else, anywhere else. She never wanted to go back to her mother's house again. words:213 tags:Ellie notes:

Even as Lux was telling her about what her "friends" had done, Ellie's mind was working quickly. Let's see, Lux was currently sixteen, which meant that she had less than a year before she was of age.
With what had happened with her stepfather, it would be fairly easy for Ellie to talk to a barrister about having Lux emancipated. That way, her stepfather would have no control over her, and she wouldn't have to go back to her mother's house, except to get her things. And at that point, if anyone tried to hurt her again, there would be much worse consequences. As it was, Ellie was going to talk to the girl about pressing charges.
"You're not going to have to go back, Lux," Ellie told the girl, her voice firm and full of promise. "It's only a year until you come of age; do you think you could talk to your friend and see if her family would let you stay with them until you come of age? And if they won't, I will help find you a place to stay when you're not at school; there are resources we can use." She didn't have to worry about being hurt again; Ellie and the law would see to that.
Folding her hands in her lap, she fixed Lux with a rather serious expression. "Do you want to press charges, Lux?" For this sort of thing, there wasn't really a statute of limitations, and it was certainly longer than a year, anyway. They could make sure that the man wouldn't hurt anyone else.

Lux looked at the woman her eyes full of hope, she hoped that she was telling the truth. "I would have to as her dad, he works at the school." She knew that Sam wouldn't mind having her there. "What about money? Wouldn't I need to have a job?" She couldn't touch her father's money until she was of age unless it was for school.
She wanted to understand everything before they went through with it. She was thinking about everything the woman had said but her thoughts were ran off course when she asked if Lux wanted to press charges against the man.
Did she want to? She wasn’t sure, she didn’t have any proof of the rape other then not being a virgin anymore. “What about proof? Wont they need to have proof that it happened?” The reason she hadn’t done anything before was because they would have found out about her cutting herself.
The other reason was because she didn’t think anyone would believe her without proof. She took a deep breath as she ran her fingers through her own hair. She wished Sam was with her, she didn’t know what to do. Should I press charges against him? She didn’t want him to do what he did to her to anyone else. words:222 tags:Ellie notes:
