═ ═ Lux was skipping Charms as she wasn't doing too well in the class anyway. She didn't think anyone would miss her at all so to her it was no loss. As it was she was sitting under a tree wearing the all too famous Slytherin robes. She also wore her father's silver star around her neck.
She was unsure as to why she was even in Charms, it might have something to do with what was required but she wasn't positive. She barely remembered the beginning of the school year. No as she thought about it she dd remember it. All too well.
She looked up at the sky before leaning back against the tree and closing her eyes. She needed to relax from the chaos that was her life. She smiled as Sam crossed her mind as she thought she was alone. She slowly lost her smile as she started to remember all the horrid things that had happened to her in her life.
The first being that her father died in the muggle war. The second being that she was forced to live with her mother and the third was being raped by her step-father. The last thing that happened was losing her friends. She was so lost in thought she didn't hear anyone walking nearby. words:224 tags:Iasan and open notes:

Iasan skipping class wasn't an uncommon occuereance. In fact, the teachers pretty much expected it and left it for McGonagall to sort out. Given that she was his head of house. And today, was no different from any day before it. He was skipping Divinations, perhaps the easiest class to get away with skipping, and wandering around the courtyard trying to find a good place to hide for a smoke. If he couldn't find a good place to hide, he'd just light one up, and get detention like every other day of his life.
Of course there was someone in his favorite smoke spot. Generally, he would've found a different spot but a couple of his mates had been laying it on thick about his and Persephone's break up. And he was never in the mood for that. And it just spoiled his whole day. So he approached the young, Slytherin blond and stared down at her. "Oi! You're in my spot."
It wasn't said in a rude way, more so in a way to alert her that she needed to scoot over or get it. His reason for wanting the spot obvious, giving the cigarette hanging unlit out of his mouth and the muggle lighter in his hand, "So I'm gonna need you to scoot or go." [/blockquote]

═ ═ Lux opened her eyes and scowled as she saw it was a Gryffindor boy. "I don't see your name anywhere." But being that they were alone she just moved over some then leaned back against the tree. "You know those can kill you." She told him in a bored tone, she looked up at him with a look saying 'this is all you get'. She was not going to move over any more then she wanted to. She just had to pick a tree that a Gryffindor claimed as his, though the tree belonged to everyone in the school.
She didn't even know the boy's name yet she was going to let him sit near her. Though she had to admit he was a little bit attractive. She shuddered at the thought of what Sam would do if she saw she was being nice to a Gryffindor. She looked up at him then said, "Sit, if you're going to sit." She would move back to where she was if he didn't sit soon.
She shook her head almost disgusted with herself for being nice to a Gryffindor. But then she remembered her father had been a Gryffindor. At the thought of her father her fingers went to the silver star. words:217 tags:Iasan and open notes:

Iasan scoffed at the girl. Of course she acted like this! She was a Slytherin after all. And they were never up to any good. "I'm not slow, Blondie," he spt, taking a seat against the tree and lighting his cigarette, "And I realy am not in the mood to take any of your Slytherin shite. So let's just sit here in silence, pretend the other isn't here and get on with our lives."
With everything going on with Persephone and his mates, he really didn't need anything from this girl who acted like a common Slytherin. He'd met some cool Slytherin's, Jordan Wakes and him often did mock Quidditch matches with each other, but most of them were stuck up elitists and he really didn't want to deal with any of that. "Think ya can manage, a'ight?" His Irish accent was dripping with sarcasm and annoyance and he really hoped that she got the hint. [/blockquote]

Gil didn't usually skip classes and today was no different. Hagrid had cancelled their Care of Magical Creatures class in order to take care of an injured thestral (what had injured it, even he wasn't certain yet), and so, he had headed to the courtyard to enjoy a bit of time outside. After all, he would have been able to spend the time outside during class, so why waste the hour stuck indoors?
Fresh air acquired, he made his way over to one of his favorite trees, intent upon doing a bit of his homework outside. It was O.W.L. year after all, and he had to make sure to get everything done.
Besides, being the quintessential Hufflepuff, there were some things he had to ponder for his good friends. A few of them had come to him for advice, and he really wanted to give them good advice.
Ah, but there were people here already. Well, the more the merrier! he could always do his homework tonight, after classes were done.
"Mind if I join you?" he said with a bit of a grin. True, the people already here were a Gryffindor and a Slytherin. It was entirely possible that he would feel it necessary to intervene, and well, he would if he could at all.

There was a few seconds spent in silence. And then this Hufflepuff id that Iasan was pretty ssure he paid to do his homework asking if he could join. Iasan rolled his eyes and blew a cloud of smoke in the kids face, "Go ahead," and he gestured to the "seat" beside him. This skipping class was beginning to turn out to be horrendous. And were it not for him wanting to be stubborn, especially 'cause he wasn't going to lose to a Hufflepuff, he would've left. Instead, he grunted angrily in his throat and turned his eyes on the Slytherin, lips pouted out, "So what's your story? You trying to prove you're just as big and bad as the rest of the girls in your house," he blew a puff of smoke in her face, "Or you just bored?" [/blockquote]

When she heard the boy's accent her eyes glazed over as she looked at the boy. "Is that Irish?" She loved that accent, as she almost died every time Sam let her accent slip. She had to stop herself from jumping the Gryffindor right there. Thankfully though another student arrived.
Lux rolled her eyes as she saw it was a Hufflepuff that joined them, she wanted some peace. That wasn't going to happen, perhaps she could ignore them. She held her father's silver star in her hand as she looked up at the sky through the leaves and branches of the tree. She was in her own world when a voice brought her back. She looked at the Gryffindor then coughed when he blew smoke in her face. "I came here to try to forget some things." She didn't know if these two had heard the truth about her or the rumor about her.
She looked down at her lap then held the silver star where she could see it. I miss you, Daddy. She took a deep breath to keep herself from crying, she couldn't get caught crying by a Hufflepuff and Gryffindor. She kissed the star before letting it fall back to her chest. Any muggle born would know about silver stars, she knew that any half-blood would as well. She swallowed the lump in her throat from thinking about her dad. She loved him and missed him, she also wished she could visit his grave. Her mother wouldn't let her and at the thought of her mother her features turned to stone.

Gil coughed slightly as Iasan blew smoke into his face. He was being a bit ungrateful, wasn't he, when Gil was part of the reason Iasan was still in Hogwarts. True, Iasan did pay him, but still.
With a bit of an inward shrug, he sat down where Iasan had indicated, enjoying the weather. It was rather mild, today; not rainy or cold as it sometimes was at this point in the year.
He noticed a movement out of the corner of his eye, though; the Slytherin girl that had been here had let a silver star fall to her chest. As a Muggleborn, he instantly knew what that must mean.
"Who got the silver star?" he asked, voice sympathetic. The person who that had belonged to first had probably been rather close to her since she was the one who had it now.
"Oh, and I'm Gilbert, by the way, but most people just call me Gil," he said, trying to be as friendly as ever. Most people who met him liked Gil, but then again, there were always the people that saw the Hufflepuff first and then the boy second.

Well, today had been a rather eventful day, to say the least. All of her friends had, by now, heard that she'd broken up with Iasan. Some of them were fully behind her decision while others thought that she was, to put it simply, barking mad.
And while she would concede that her sister spent rather a lot of time in the company of a certain Sirius Black (who was, quite literally, barking mad), she herself was quite in her right mind.
Which was why she felt the need (as she very rarely did) to take a break today. Things had been hectic for her, recently, especially dealing with the whole break-up.
She knew it had been the right thing to do (at that point in time, for herself), but that didn't mean that it was easy. Persephone still cared about Iasan, quite a bit, if she was going to be truthful.
But she needn't think about that right now. What she needed to do right now was to get some fresh air, clear her head.
Lost in her thoughts, her feet automatically took her to the tree that had been one of their favorite spots, only to see an all-too-familiar cloud of smoke above a curly head.
It was too late to leave now, though; she'd been spotted and the Hufflepuff sitting with the small group had beckoned her over. Heaving a sigh, she took her bag off of her shoulder and sat next to the younger student, doing her very best not to let Iasan's presence get to her.

Oh no! Why did she have to be here? He was here to get away from her and she was there. With her perfectness. And her beautiful nature. And the cruel, cold way she'd ripped out his heart and stomped on it. He dragged his cigarette deeply, My Venus! Oh I hate her! was all that crossed his mind. He let his head loll to look back at the Slytherin blond. She wasn't bad looking. In fact, if she hadn't been so uppity he might've found her quite attractive. That didn't stop him from his next tactic though. Even if it was a little vindictive.
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't be so hurtful towards you," he let his accent thicken lightly, giving her a boyish grin, "It's not fair. I've just had a rough week is all. Who did you lose?" He switched his cigarette to his other hand so he could wrap a comforting arm around her shoulds. Lightly and carefully, "I've never lost someone, so I can't imaginie how it feels, yeah? But, life goes one. You just gotta make them proud is all. Right?" He looked at Gil, "Right, Gil. Sorry about the smoke earlier. I've hd a bad week," his eyes lanced at Persephone instinctivly before lolling back to look at the Slytherin girl, "I'm Iasan. It's Irish." [/blockquote]

She looked at the Hufflepuff, he was sorta cute but he wasn't Irish. She opened her mouth to answer him when the Gryffindor started talking to her. Oh that accent! Lux was going to die of sexual desire soon. She blushed when he smiled at her, her cheeks reddened when he put his arm around her. But aat the mention of her loss it all went away(slowly of course). "To answer you both, my dad. He was a wizard and former Gryffindor but he joined the muggle military. He... he died at war." Her voice cracked at the last sentence.
"Make him proud? Ha! I can't change who I am but I wouldn't be who I am if it wasn't for my mother's bastard of a husband." She placed her hand on the star, it was sharp enough to cut her skin but that would tarnish the meaning behind the star and, to her, the love he had for her.
"I'm Lux." She didn't understand why she was even talking to them. It went against everything she was since the rape and meeting Sam. Am I changing? She couldn't be, could she? She looked down at her lap.

No, the Hufflepuff wasn't Irish; he was Scottish, born and bred in Edinburgh. If he had known what Lux was thinking, he would have chuckled out loud. He actually knew a lot of people who preferred Irish to Scottish, but he thought it was a bit silly to compare the two accents. Yes, they were similar, but they were also ridiculously different, to his ears, at least.
Pulling his mind from thoughts of accents, Gil looked between the newest arrival (a pretty Ravenclaw girl) and Iasan, putting two and two together. Clearly, there was more here than meets the eye. From what Gil could tell, the Ravenclaw and the Gryffindor were ... a bit at odds with each other.
Now, as Ravenclaws and Gryffindors didn't usually have a problem with each other, there was clearly something else going on. Perhaps they had had a heated family rivalry for years (that did sometimes happen, after all), or perhaps they had been in a relationship that ... went bad.
From what had just happened with the Slytherin girl, Gil was going to assume it was the latter.
"I'm sorry for your loss," he murmured, quite sympathetic to Lux. "But he died a hero and I'm sure that's how he'll be remembered."
The boy smiled round at the group, trying (fruitlessly) to defuse the tension that was almost palpable.

Persephone stiffened as Iasan put his arm around the Slytherin girl. She didn't know who the other girl was, but she already didn't like her. No, she wasn't exactly the vindictive type, but occasionally, Iasan just brought out her temper.
And today was one of those days.
Two can play that game, she thought, eyes narrowing in anger.
Before it showed too much, though, she pulled back her temper, tossed her mane of curly, blonde hair and smiled brilliantly at Gil.
"You're so sweet," she cooed, scooting a bit closer to him even as she threw a glance at Iasan. "Are you usually this wonderful or is it just a show for the ladies?" she asked him, laughter pealing through the courtyard.
Why was she doing this? She was the one who had broken up with him; she wasn't supposed to still feel like this. Obviously, he'd moved on to ... stranger pastures, but she was the one left to ponder her decision, the one she knew to be right for her.
Shoving such thoughts away, she smiled at Gil again. "I heard you introduce yourself when I was joining the group, but I haven't said who I am, yet. Persephone Lovegood," she added, taking a moment to run a hand through her hair, flicking her eyes to Iasan's face again. She hoped something was getting through to him; he clearly wanted to hurt her, but she wasn't going to let him, not right now.

There was fire bubbling deep in Iasan. Not Gil! Gil was...he paid the kid to do his homework, okay? Gil wasn't the type of guy for Persephone. And you are? She dumped you. Remember? Iasan turned his attention back towards the blond.
"I'm sorry that's the case. You don't deserve any of that. No one does," he squeezed her lightly, partially out of legitimate care (obviously something bad had hppened to her) and also to just throw it in Persephone's face a bit, "If you ever need anything, I know I'm a Gryffindor and tabboo. But You can almost always find me out here," he gave her a boyish grin, "I'm not much of a class person. I prefer my death sticks. But I'm always good for a shoulder to cry on and an ear to listen."
His attention turned to Gil, "Gil, you're good? Don't I...Don't I pay you to do my homework for me?" Okay. Gil was a good guy. But there was no way he was going to let the kid steal his girl. Your girl? Oh shut up! He gave the 5th year boy a look of warning before smiling at Persephone.
"Be nice to the boy, Persephone. I don't think he's prepared for your cruelty yet. Most people aren't though," he gave her a sarcastic smile and turned to look back at Lu.
"So, Lux? That's a pretty name. Is it short for anything...?" [/blockquote]

Lux had the feeling that the boy was using her so she moved away from him. "I can tell when I am being used, you might have the accent I like but I will not be used again. Not by anyone." She wasn't being mean she was just stating facts. "No, my name means light. Both my parents have dark hair." She leaned forward to look at Gil, "Be careful, she might start using you too." She gave the girl a look that would tell anyone that she knew was being used was like.
She brought her knees up to her chest before wrapping her arms around them. "I can't get away from people like my step-father." She muttered as her body shook slightly. She was both angered and scared when she thought of her step-father. Though it was because the man had raped her and he had not given her any reason not to be scared of him or not to hate him.
She placed her chin on her knees before she unwillingly let some tears roll down her cheeks. She picked at a scab under her robe sleeve to cause herself some pain. She had to feel pain to know she was alive and could feel pan still.
