Well, that had been awkward. Gil certainly did not want to get involved in another lover's spat for quite some time. Well, unless it was one of his own. He hoped, of course, that that wouldn't happen for a while; once he started dating, he didn't exactly want to be fighting with the girl all the time.
And so, when Iasan and Persephone had been going at it like that, he'd decided that it was time to leave.
Following Lux seemed like a good idea, especially since she seemed rather upset by the whole incident.
He was sure it was more than just that, but perhaps she needed someone to talk to. Even if she didn't really tell him anything, he could be there for her if she needed him.

Lux sighed, that had been annoying to say the least. She was lost in her own world when she heard footsteps. She looked up and saw who it was, it seemed that their fight wasn't just bothering her. She was glad though that he had followed her, if he hadn't it would mean that all houses hated Slytherins(at least to her). "So you couldn't stand that either, huh?" Though what she was really upset about was t brought back all the fights she had had with her mother after she was raped.
"I wish I could be adopted." She mumbled as her arms tightened around her legs. She didn't want to go back to her house, she wondered if she could stay over the summer. She knew that her mother wouldn't care if she ever saw her again. She wanted to just scream out to the world that she wanted to die. She shook her head thinking that they would have a reason to lock her up somewhere if she did do that. She sometimes wished that her mother had died and that her father was still alive. Her hair turned dark as these dark thoughts ran through her mind.

With a bit of a smile, he sat down next to Lux.
"No, getting involved in that sort of fight is really not my cup of tea," he laughed ever-so-slightly. "It's one thing if it's a statement or two, but to have that whole spat while there are other people around...," he trailed off, shaking his head.
He watched Lux for a moment, able to tell that she was upset.
"Are you all right?" he asked, scooting a little closer to her.
And then she mentioned her wish about being adopted. "Well, you know, you still could be," he smiled. "All you have to do is find someone who is willing to adopt you, and have your mother sign the papers that says she's willing to allow you to be adopted."
How Gil knew these things, even he wasn't sure sometimes. But, hey, if his random knowledge of the adoption system helped Lux to feel better, it was worth it.

"Yeah well I doubt my mum would let me be happy, if my dad hadn't died I would still be with him. She hates me because I'm a witch, left dad because he was a wizard." She hadn't told anyone but Sam that, she looked at Gil, "I would call you Gil but I don't know you well enough." Lux hugged her legs tighter. "I just want to be away from her and my step-dad." She whispered, she mainly wanted to get away from her step-dad.
She wanted to forget everything that had happened to her but for some reason that memory was burned into her mind. She just hoped that someday she could forget it, or at least push it to the back of her mind. “My step-dad is horrible to me and my mum don’t believe anything I tell her.” She leaned back against the tree trunk, moving her head to look up through the leaves. She sighed and wondered if she would ever be okay enough to move on and away from that memory.
Lux looked at Gil then asked, “Have you ever had anything bad happen to you? I only ask out of curiosity.” She really wanted to know if he had anything bad happen to him, that way she would know if she might be able to trust him. words:228 tags:Gilbert notes:Sorry it took a while.

He listened to Lux's words, nodding at what she said. "Well, Lux, you're underage; you can contact Wizarding Protective services; if they see you're being mistreated, they should place you with a family that will take care of you, especially if they know your step-father as bad as you say. No, he hadn't heard that her step-father had raped her, but if he'd heard the other rumor as well, he would believe Lux's version. Very few people would make up a story about something like that, and Lux didn't seem like she was the type to do that sort of thing.
"And, also, if your mother refuses to sign the papers allowing you to be adopted by a different family, you can appeal to the courts." Why Gil knew so much about this issue, even he wasn't sure. He knew a little about a lot, really, random knowledge gleaned over his years in the Muggle world as well as the Wizarding world.
But then, Lux asked if he'd ever had anything bad happen to him. "I've been pretty lucky, as far as that sort of thing goes," he murmured. "My grandmother died my first year. I was closer to her than almost anyone, except maybe Rafe." He didn't really know what else to say; he had had a pretty good life, so far, and he hoped to keep things that way, for a while.

Lux listened to him wondering if that was true or not, though she didn't think she would ever find out. She looked at him when he said nothing real bad had happened to him. When he told her his grandmother had died in his first year she wanted to scoff at that. She had lost her father then got raped by her step father, she didn't think anything short of losing Sam would make things worse for her. She also didn't think anything short of him losing hs brother would make her feel sorry for him.
Her life had been happy until her father had died, she had the flag they had given her at his funurel stll folded in her trunk. She looked up at the sky through the tree branches and past the leaves. "My dad was my hero even before he became a soldier. He was my world, and the day I got the news it came crashing down around me." Her heart had been broken and she never thought she would ever feel whole, but when she was around Sam, she felt whole, it was as if the love she lost when her father had died was there in Sam.
