Daciana's hazel eyes fluttered open softly. The dirt of the greenhouse floor was cool on her sleep heated skin. Why was she here again? Sleep had clouded her mind and her memories seemed hazy. Sitting up slowly, she stretched thin, muscled arms to the sky as far as they could reach as she let out a large, almost animalistic yawn. She had been cramping, the full moon was close only a few days off now, and the pain had been impossible to sleep with. She remembered her whimper in the dark, stone room of the girl's dormitory. Not wanting to bother or wake any of the others she had come to the greenhouse. A recluse spot where she was unlikely to be found by teacher and student alike.
And she'd fallen asleep. Climbing to her barefeet, the cool morning, air though heated by the humidity of the greenhouse, still sent goosebumps up and down the exposed flesh of her legs and arms. The tank top and shorts would do nothing to aid her against the dew and chilled air that would freeze her on her run to the castle. Taking sluggish steps towards the entrance she opened the door. The blast of cool air made her shriek in surprise and slam the door shut. Cursing in Romanian, she began to pace the area, holding her mass of blond hair easily on the crown of her head with a vice grip. Hopefully she would have sometime, judging by the coolness and light Daciana gave it an hour or two, before anyone either came looking for her or to use the greenhouse. [/blockquote]

Ever since the day she had run into Iasan in the courtyard, Persephone had been withdrawn and thoughtful. Had she broken up with Iasan for the right reasons? Or had she just been scared, as he'd said?
Pulling the chain around her neck out from underneath her shirt, she stared at the ring on the end of the chain, deep in thought. Iasan had been going to propose to her; did he still have feelings for her, even though she'd dumped him? She'd been fighting against it, but she knew she still loved him.
What on earth was she going to do?
This whole dilemma was the reason she was wandering around the grounds at this time in the morning. She hadn't been sleeping well since that day, and walking helped her think.
It was quite cold this morning, though, and she shivered as she wandered about.
Where could she go that she could be warm, but still continue to brood over this subject?
And then it came to her: the greenhouses.
With a bit of purpose to her step, now, she shivered her way over to the greenhouses and made her way inside, practically running directly into Daciana.
"Oh!" she exclaimed, taking an involuntary step back. "I'm sorry; I didn't think anyone would be in here, at this point!"

Daciana looked at Persephone with wide eyes before looking down at herself and back up at the Ravenclaw girl. She really didn't want the girl to ask questions about why Daciana was in the greenhouse, this early, and quite scantily clad. Saying meeting up with a boy was out of the option. It was pretty widely known that Daciana was into girls. And if she was dating anyone the entire school would know about it. Especially most of the boys who had seemed to make it their life's mission to find out where and when Daciana might have a potential "hook up". She had to drag many of them by their ears to Snape's office and growl at him about them being perverts.
Instead she settled for a meek and high pitched, "Hello" with an awkward wave and an even more awkward smile. Please don't ask! Please don't ask! her mind pleaded as she continued to stare at Persephone. Though it was likely that the girl really didn't have any idea she was actually here. Excluding the teachers and a few choice friends (who didn't really want to meet Daciana's wrath if they opened their mouths) no one knew. And it was a hard one to guess. [/blockquote]

"You must be freezing!" Persephone said, tactfully not asking why the other sixth year girl was in the greenhouses at this time of morning. After all, her older sister did occasionally sleep-walk, and she herself had come to the greenhouses seeking solitude this morning. Perhaps she had wanted to do the same.
In that case, why she would have wandered off without very many clothes at all, well, that was anyone's guess.
Pulling her wand from inside the coat she was wearing, she conjured a blanket for the other girl and held it out to her.
"You're Daciana, right?" she asked with a smile. They were both sixth years and she'd seen her around a bit, but she wasn't entirely sure that that was the other girl's name.
"I'm Persephone, by the way," she offered another smile. No, she didn't know exactly why Daciana was here, but even if she had, she wouldn't have treated the other girl any differently; it wasn't in Persephone's nature to judge people because of their heritage. She would much rather get to know a person before judging them. And today, with this girl was no different.

Daciana accepted the blanket graciously with a wide smile and nodded when she asked about her name, "Persephone? Weren't you dating that Gryffindor boy for a while?" Daciana had a hard time connecting names to faces. And though the girl was familiar it'd be good to have a memory to connect the girl too.
Truth be told, Daciana wasn't that curious as to why the girl was at the greenhouse this time of morning. Hogwarts students never failed to surprise. And so Daciana learned to never actually expect the obvious from Hogwarts students but rather accept the surprising. Which she did. She wrapped the blanket tightly around herself, "Thank you for the blanket. Walking to the castle would've been horrible without it," Daciana couldn't help but laugh and smile at the image floating in her head of her running towards the castle in her current outfit. Persephone smiled when Daciana (since she had confirmed that was her name, she could think of her that way without feeling like she might be wrong) accepted the blanket. At least she'd done good for one person in the past week or so. That meeting with Iasan...well, it had definitely left a bit of an impact on her, and not exactly a positive one. She hadn't really been herself, since.
And then Daciana asked about him. The smile that had been spread across her lips slowly melted, disappearing.
"Yeah, Iasan and I dated for about two years," she said, looking crestfallen. She still cared about him; more than cared about him, she still loved him. But she couldn't really admit that to him, now. Persephone was sure that he hated her now, and honestly, why wouldn't he? He had every right to ... pretty much want to see her dead. Well, all right, he wouldn't want that (at least she hoped not!), but he still had every right to not want to see her ever again.
But then, Daciana thanked her for the blanket and Persephone smiled again. "It's not a problem," she murmured. "Besides, I'd rather inconvenience myself a little bit for the comfort of another." Which was one of the reasons she'd been made Prefect, probably. But, that wasn't what she should be thinking about right now. Quite frankly, she needed to make some new friends; some of her old ones were being quite cold with her, since the breakup.

"I'm sorry to bring him up. I didn't realize. Crappy way to show appreciation," Daciana chuckled, motioning with the blanket to mean the blanket. She took a step forward and opened her arms to offer the girl a hug. It's what her family always did when they felt like they screwed up or someone seemed sad and this girl seemed sad. So she had dated the kid? Daciana almost couldn't believe it. Form what she saw and heard that boy was trouble. But if this girl was who Daciana thought she was, that meant she was a Ravenclaw. One who worked her little arse off to do well. How did they end up getting together? Now wasn't the time to ask those questions. Now was the time to give the girl a hug and make her feel better. "Well that's good to know. I'll remember that," she gave a light laugh, that sounded a little like a bark and Daciana shut her mouth quickly with wide eyes, "I mean, it's good to know people like that. In case I ever get in a hole I can't crawl out of."

"That's all right," she smiled a bit sadly, this time. "There was no way you could have known it was a painful subject." She thought about him so much, though, and to have other people bring up their relationship when it had ended, well, it pained her.
And then Daciana made the pretty much universal signal for "I'll give you a hug if you need a hug." Quite frankly, that was just what Persephone needed right now. She didn't care that people talked badly about Daciana, didn't care that the other girl preferred girls over guys; she was offering her comforting physical contact, that of a friend, and Persephone needed that.
No, she didn't know Daciana very well at all (they'd just officially met, after all), but she rushed into her hug all the same. Hopefully, she had found a new friend this morning.
Yes, Iasan could be trouble, but he was her trouble. And she would tell Daciana if she asked, but right now, she didn't want to bring up the fact that he'd asked her out on a dare. Then again, they'd hit it off quite quickly and definitely, so how they'd begun was not nearly as important as their relationship had been.
She smiled again at Daciana's words. "Yes, do definitely let me know if you're in a tight spot and I'll do my best to help you," she laughed.

Daciana wrapped her slender arms around Persephone tightly as the blond hugged her. Clearly this girl was hurting a lot. She'd say that's why she didn't date boys but it didn't matter. People hurt people. Gender and sexuality don't matter when it comes to people hurting other people. "I'm sorry. Boys suck. It's why I don't date them," even though she didn't believe it Daciana made the joke anyways. She just wanted to girl to feel better. It wasn't fair that a guy could have this much control over Perspehone's emotions and he wasn't even there. And that was just stupid.
"I totally will. I tend to get in those a lot," she gave the girl a friendly peck on the temple before holding her at arms length, "But you need to feel better. Not me. I'm good. I got a blanket. So what about you? What do you need to feel better? How about a funny little dance?" the werewolf jumped back and began to do something like the hustle only with a lot less cordination, "I can do this forever!" [/blockquote]

Persephone just laughed as Daciana insulted the male gender. "Well, after this, I can certainly understand that," she murmured, sniffling slightly. But Daciana was clearly trying to make her feel better, so Persephone didn't want all that effort to go to waste. Besides, she was definitely helping.
"I'll keep that in mind," the Ravenclaw laughed. "I'll have to keep an eye out for those situations so I can get you out of them." And then Daciana said that she was good since she had a blanket and a bright smile made its way across Persephone's visage again. It had been a while since she'd smiled like this. She definitely considered Daciana a new friend, even though they'd just met.
And then the other girl started to do a dance that was ... kind of like the hustle. Persephone giggled wildly, attempting to join into the dance-type thing.
"Yes, that definitely made me feel better," she said, still giggling. "Why do you care so much about making me feel better?" she asked, curiously. "We did just meet, after all." Granted, she herself would try to cheer up a stranger, but, well, most of the people she knew wouldn't even really try much. Or if they did, it would be for a different reason than Daciana seemed to have had.

At the girls question Daciana gave a grin and stopped her dancing, "No one has the right to make you sad. But everyone should have the right to make you smile. I'm simply practicing my rights," Daciana gave a soft laugh and let her face fall naturally, "In all honesty, I need friends. I'm...well, I think I'm losing one. And she's pretty Mich my only friend. I figure if I make you happy you'd want to hang out with me more. And I'd have more friends, you know?" Daciana's brain screeched that more friends meant more people who would know. And some of them might not be so accepting. She didn't let these thoughts show on her face though. No, she simply gave the girl a saddened smile and tried to keep the look of pleading out of her eyes. And the girl was cute. Not that Daciana would ever, but it was a plus.

At Daciana's words about making Persephone want to hang out with her more, the Ravenclaw girl laughed. "I was actually hoping you'd want to be my friend!" she exclaimed with a grin. "And since we're both sort of hoping the same thing, I suggest that we are definitely friends and we should definitely spend more time together," she said firmly, while still smiling. She didn't want it to seem like an order after all; that would kind of defeat the purpose of a friendship, after all.
But then, one of Daciana's other comments registered. Persephone cocked her head curiously. "Why do you think you're losing a friend?" she asked. It was sad to think that someone would want to stop being friends with someone who was so nice! Besides, if Persephone knew who it was, she could ... exercise her Prefect badge a bit, if it became necessary. She wasn't usually one to abuse the power she'd been given but, well, friends were more important.
And then it dawned on her: that was what had been upsetting Iasan so much when they had been dating! She'd put her studies in front of her friends and her feelings for him. Quite frankly, she would do pretty well on most things without studying much at all, but that was beside the point. The point was that, for a quite intelligent young woman, even Persephone had her moments of stupidity.
How on earth was she going to be able to tell Iasan that, though? After what had happened in the courtyard, he was bound to want nothing more to do with her. But, she could always send him an owl.
Decision in her mind, she turned her full attention back to Daciana, smiling at the other girl, her new friend.
