Professor Gwen Lawrence was stood in her own private lab just off her office. She could be found making the Potion stock needed for the infirmary. It was quite a tough job once supplies got quite low and it had because of the recent Quidditch match that had happened. Gwen had not realised just how hard it was looking after the Potion stock for the entire school, she was starting think about sending an owl to Professor Snape to ask for help with the brewing. This was only her first year within the school and what was better than to ask the man that had been the Potions Professor for the majority of time. Then she just shook her head, she had already sent the own because she needed the advice on how to handle it all – she was new to it all. At the moment she was making the Pepperup Potion since the stocks for the Potion was running low.
Today she wore a simple blue dress completed with a black belt around her waist and her court shoes that gave her a bit more height. Ever since her younger years, she wore heels and she made sure that they were practical to wear when she was working with Potions. Since she could walk in them then it seemed that they would be fine. Her hair was pulled back in a ponytail so that her hair did not come into contact with the Potion or it would very nearly ruin it. Her glance quickly went to her left hand – namely her ring finger, a slight tan line was present. Shaking her head, she almost pushed passed her loss and fear and simply said that she didn’t care. Gwen went back to stirring the Potions and started to hum to herself as she spun around on her heel and went over to the desk she had placed in the corner. She was trying to mark assignments she had set – this was what she called multi-tasking. She found that it could be rather difficult. Quickly she looked down at some of the information that had been copied word for word from one of the most common Potion books. Did the students really think that she was stupid? That she would not spot copying? They knew that in her class it was a fail and therefore a troll grade. It was the law of her land or namely her classroom.
She walked away from her desk after a short while – she made a quick check to see how her Potion was coming along and saw that it was where it should be. It needed to simmer for an hour. Gwen walked to the other side of her small lab to start her prep work for the Calming Draught she needed to brew. Her equipment needed was already out and clean, she knew how to make these Potions like the back of her hand, the only downside was that she was not entirely sure how she could brew them all at once, it would be nice for a little help.

Well, as Snape had a bit of free time (something that almost never happened during the school year), it was time to go help his successor. Apparently, she was having trouble keeping on top of restocking the infirmary.
Making his way to Professor Lawrence's office, he knocked once, then breezed right in. This had, after all, been his domain for quite some time before he'd been given the Defence Against the Dark Arts position.
It didn't take long to spot the other professor; she was currently ... multi-tasking. Not the best idea with Potions. Oh, certainly, some needed rather a bit of time to brew, but even the best potions-maker could confuse the potion-recipes and botch everything. It was best to do one potion at a time and have something else to do ready at hand; marking, for example. Even though multi-tasking seemed like the quicker way, ultimately, it was not. It led to confusion, mix-ups, and usually forced people to start over completely.
"Professor Lawrence," he said silkily, sweeping further into the room. "As I'm sure you can gather from my presence, I received your owl. I sent a response, but it seems that your owl is ... less than reliable," he murmured. No matter, though; he was still here, as per her request, to help.

Gwen stood chopping up the ingrediets carefully as she listed them off in her head and then moved back over to the Potion she had been brewing it was something she needed to get the knack of. She had never taught before and she was only used to actually brewing all day like she had done when she worked at the minisrty. This was an entirely new ball game to her and she had not be afraid to ask for help – even though she was not afraid to admit she was a little scared of Professor Snape even though she was roughly the same age as he was. Maybe it was just the fact he didn’t look all that friendly to be around. But she was not one to judge a book by its cover – she didn’t even know the man.
The heat from brewing sometimes could get too much, which was why she choose to wear light clothing, which was in the form of a blue dress that would keep her cool, or at least it should. It was a good job that her hair was pulled back off her face, because she could see that she would have to start all over again if it did not go right. Stirring the potion slowly, it was not ntering the next stage and she could leave it again.
As she was about to walk away, she found herself jumping and quickly pulled out her wand and pointed it, only to see that it was Professor Snape. Shaking her head, she put away her wand and muttered. “Need to put I bell on him.” Then Gwen faced him and said “Sorry, I didn’t hear you come in Professor, it seems no-one knows when you come.” She said with a slight on her face, but then it disappeared as thought of her owl not returning. “Yes of course. As per the letter I need your assistance, but I need it a little more than the letter suggested, I fear I need advice on being a Professor of Potions, the students seem to think of it as fun and games.”
This was something she didn’t want to admit to the man, but honesty was the only she was going to get the help needed. Though she had been a Potions Mistress for a little under twenty years, though she had qualified in the States.

It was a good thing for Professor Lawrence that she'd put her wand away almost instantly; it was not a good idea to point a wand at Severus Snape. True, he hadn't been much of a dueler in his school years, but he had learned many things since then, especially during his stint as a triple agent, something he never wanted to have to do again.
He didn't say anything about her bell comment; there wasn't really anything to say to that, but it was certainly true that he was apparently very good at entering a room silently.
"Yes, well, I did come, didn't I?" he said rhetorically. Her words surprised him a bit, quite frankly. She needed advice on being a Professor in general, it seemed.
Well, this was certainly going to be an interesting time, then, that was for sure.
"Well, Professor Lawrence," Snape said, his voice silky and dark, "the first thing I would advise is not to allow the hospital's stock to get this low again. Make a little bit every week and you'll keep ahead of the demand."

Gwen was still unsure if she had done the correct thing in asking for the assistance of Professor Severus Snape, just because she was the same age as him, if not older and there was not a chance in hell that she was going to be belittled by a man in the same profession as herself. She was asking for his assistance and advice because in the long term he would be the best person to contact and consult.
“Very well Professor Snape that will be one thing to start to do, as you can tell I am still getting used to managing teaching students that seem to think they know better than I and then managing other projects on the side.” She said as she walked to the cauldron, her heels clicking on the ground. “I am not sure how you kept up with everything you had to do.” Of course she was in the Order if only on the outer side of it, she had heard rumours but none which she would talk about because she did value her life.
She was still checking the progress of the potion before she turned to face Professor Snape and looked at him. Ever since she had arrived she had barely said two words to him but she never pressed the issue that was that. “I wanted to know how you handle your students in such a dangerous subject, most of them are well behaved but I fear that one day just one of them will go just one step too far…” She trailed off not sure of what else she could say on the matter, the statement was just left hanging in the air.
