═ ═ Lux always looked up to Professor Snape but she needed a father in her life, one who she knew wouldn't take advantage of her. She wanted to ask him if she could look up to in a way like she had her father. She wouldn't call him dad or anything but she still needed a father. She knew he liked her because she was friends with his daughter and had spent some summers at his house.
Lux ran a hand through her hair as she stood before his office door. She rose her other hand before knocking on his office door. She had to ask him because she didn't want to just assume he would want her to think of him as a father figure. She also thought it was polite to ask before doing and if the man said no then that would be enough for her.
She took a step back from the door as she waited for the man to answer his door. She looked around the hall, it was free time and she never thought of the man to mingle with other professors. She ignored when her ex-friends passed her whispering about her. She only knew they were talking about her because it had been loud enough for her to hear her name.words: 223 tags: Severus Snape notes:

As per usual during the free periods, Snape was working. At this point, he was marking essays, and thinking about how he was going to be able to help Sam. He'd taken the first step, though, in setting up an appointment for her with Eloise Clarke. The man just hoped that she could help his daughter because if she couldn't, he was out of ideas. He was going to have to barge into Dumbledore's office and demand that he help Sam, if that happened, and he really didn't want to have to do that.
He had been marking just about every single line in the essay on which he was currently working (abysmal work, really), when there was a knock on his door.
Who could that be? Most people knew not to disturb him outside of office hours, but, as he was a Professor, he was duty-bound to take care of any issues a student might have, as best he could.
"Enter," he called without moving from his desk. There was no need to go anywhere unless he knew there was some sort of emergency.

Upon hearing the 'enter' Lux opened the door then walked into the office. Once inside she shut the door then turned to the professor. "Sorry to bother you, sir." Her voice shook a bit as she was nervous. She was normally nervous around the man unless in classes or with Sam. She was also nervous about what she was going to ask the man. What should she say? How should she say it? Those questions kept running around her thoughts.
She took a deep breath before speaking, "May I ask you a question, Professor?" Even at his house she called him professor. Though she knew he would dock points if she called him anything but that. She held the silver star to comfort her and to give her strength. She looked at the man as she waited for his reply, she would not ask it if he said no. Though she knew that if he said no she might end up asking him anyway. But the question was, how should she word what she wanted to ask. She had no idea and nothing she did think of sounded any good. She never knew that asking a question could be as hard as it was being for her at that moment in time.

When Snape saw who it was, he looked up from the essays. They could wait if they needed to. This girl was quite a close friend of Sam's, though, and he thought of her fondly. He just wished that she could help convince Sam to start eating again.
"Please, sit down, Miss Blackwood," he said, gesturing to the chair in front of his desk. He set his quill down and raised an eyebrow at the student across from him, as if to ask if anything was wrong.
Yes, he appeared quite harsh to students in other Houses, but Snape always made time for those in his own House, especially when they were close friends with his daughter.
"What is it you wanted to ask, Miss Blackwood?" he asked her. He'd help her if he could, but he wasn't Dumbledore, after all; he didn't have all the answers. Neither did Dumbledore, of course, but the Headmaster was rather older than Snape and kenw a bit more, at the very least, through experience.

Lux sat in the chair as she took a deep calming breath. She touched the silver star before speaking. "I was wondering if I could look up to you as a father figure, the one I have I would rather kill then look up to." She was close to telling him about the rape, though there was nothing anyone could do about it. Though she wished she could be adopted by someone so her mother could be rid of her. "He's not the best role model and certainly not the best step-father in the world." Her teeth clenched as she spoke more about her step-father.
She couldn't hold it in any longer, "Have you heard that story that I slept with him? It's a lie and the girls I told the truth to didn't believe me." Sam did, she was the best friend Lux could have. She stood up and walked over to the bookcase full of different books. Her blonde hair turned black as her thoughts grew depressed. She crossed her arms in a way to hug herself. She was on the verge of telling him she was raped but something was holding her back, perhaps she didn't want to show weakness.

Quite frankly, Snape was incredibly surprised by Lux’s question; he had never thought that anyone (his own children included) truly wanted him to be her father. He knew Sam didn’t, especially since he’d started having her see Eloise Clarke.
“I … suppose,” he said, still not quite sure how on earth he was supposed to respond to that. At the moment, he had a lot to deal with, quite frankly, what with Sam’s illness and raising Adam. But it couldn’t hurt to pretty much have another child looking up to him; he was a professor, after all, and the students of his House tended to look up to him, whether he wanted to or not.
And then, Lux said something about people thinking she’d slept with her step-father. He raised an eyebrow; as the Head of Slytherin House, he tended to hear much of what the student body was gossiping about on any particular day. As an intelligent man, Snape put very little stock in gossip. And, as Lux was one of his daughter’s best friends, he knew that that particular rumor was not true.
“I have heard that, yes. But I put little stock in gossip, Miss Blackwood,” he told her, folding his arms as he watched her peruse his bookshelf.

"It's not true, sir... I told the ones that started the rumor the truth but they didn't believe me.. but when I told Sam she did." Lux bit her lower lip as she scanned the books on his bookshelves. She was glad he didn't put much stock in gossip and rumors. She would have hated it if he had believed them and rejected her request to look up to him.
"I've got so many issues that the Ministry is making me see a psychiatrist and all because that one rumor." She didn't know why she was telling him that but if she was going to look up to him then he needed to know the truth.
"I want to be adopted and taken from my mother and stepfather." Tears started to form in her eyes and her voice gave away that she might cry. She hugged herself as her eyes remained on the books, she was on the verge of telling the man everything. She not only wanted to be taken from them but she also needed to be taken from them.
"I don't want to go home to them, I would rather stay here then go home." Silent tears began to fall from her eyes and down her cheek before hitting the floor. She hugged herself tighter before she just fell to her knees. "I've been holding in the pain for so long, sir." She didn't know why she just called him sir. words:252 tags:Snape notes:Sorry it took a while
