Sat in library once more, Susan could be found with her head hitting the book before she let out a long yawn. Sometimes she wondered why she put herself through this, she felt that sometimes she didn’t care about her studies. It was the tip of the iceberg sometimes. She wondered if anyone else in her house had ever felt the same, then again she was a Gryffindor and it was more than likely not. It was the fact that this was her last year at Hogwarts and she was not afraid to admit that she was scared. Susan had no idea what she wanted to do after she left, she felt like she couldn’t trust herself to know what she wanted to do – she just wanted to look fear in the face and say she didn’t care. Susan just seemed to wait her whole life for the moment she would graduate and leave school, only to find that she felt alone in the matter. The hour glass on the table seemed to be mocking her, her time was ticking away. Someone needed to help her. Here she was sitting in the library when she should be enjoying the last year of her carefree life. Taking a deep breath, she tried to calm herself down as she ran a hand through her hair. Would it ever get better?
She had been trying to read the book they had been assigned but it would seem the fates had different ideas. But now she was almost fed up of playing by the rules, she knew that she was not the same person she had been in first year, when it was time to try and impression her teachers. Susan could be found with her hair clipped back off her face and dressed in a pair of jeans and her Gryffindor hoodie. She was dressed for comfort other than to simple nice, she really didn’t have time for any form of relationship and she really didn’t care, not after she found that cheating rat. Even though that had been two years ago, Susan was still slightly bitter about it all. It had almost her cold and only focusing on herself – she would never let herself get in too deep again. She had taken back everything he had meant to her. Once more she found herself trying to settle her emotions. Susan had been on edge for a few weeks now, though she was sure to could pinpoint what was causing it.
Susan sighed; she felt like she needed to talk to her mother, she seemed to have all the answers when she needed them. Her mother Zara was her rock and she had no idea what she would do without her. People said that she was like her mother in looks and personality; they said she had a smile like her that was because she had taught her to laugh even when she didn’t want to laugh. A smile had started to appear on her face as she thought of the one hero in her life. Susan remembered what her mother had told her, it was see herself as she does and the world can’t hurt her. Standing up, she started to walk around the library to let her thoughts become that of her family, to try and forget her worries. Susan thought of her baby sisters Elle and Autumn, now they were two troubles that she missed but didn’t at the same time. Maybe it was because the age they were both at. She was not looking where she was going; she was in entirely different world her own now. It was at that point she walked into what felt like a soft wall, she fell to the floor snapping her out of her thoughts.
“I am so sorry; I wasn’t looking where I was going…” She trailed and looked up to see that it was…

Today, Julian had gotten to the Library first. This was a little unusual on the afternoons when he met with the other members of his study group; a certain Ravenclaw seemed to have an instinctive sense of when the boy would arrive, and nearly always got there a few minutes before he did. But this time, something must have delayed his friend. Well, he’d better start looking for his books. The rest of the group shouldn’t have any trouble finding him when they got here.
He’d just begun to stride over to the bookshelf when a familiar Gryffindor girl, apparently quite distracted, ran right into him. Oops. Susan Phillips, Head Girl, and therefore pretty much the closest thing Julian had to a “colleague”. In some cases, a Gryffindor colliding with a Slytherin that way would have led to, at the very least, a spectacular shouting match that would have gotten them thrown out of the Hogwarts Library. At worst, if both parties were short-tempered and rather stupid, it could end up in a Wizard’s Duel.
This was very unlikely to be one of those times. Even if Julian hadn’t felt it best to stay on good terms with Susan (as they had to work together), even if he didn’t think it was unfair to be angry at someone for an accident after she had apologized, he would still have understood the value of making allies instead of enemies whenever possible. Besides, he rather liked Susan.
“It’s not a problem; are you all right?” He extended a hand to her, to help her up if she wished. Julian really hoped she hadn’t hurt herself, falling on the floor like that. Of course, she probably hadn’t, unless she had very weak ankles, but Julian had known people who had that problem before, including his ex-girlfriend. The second and latest one, not the first one, whom he’d dated for about two months when he was fourteen. He’d been a bit too young for a relationship then, in spite of what he’d kept telling himself at the time.
His second girlfriend, though, was the one he’d dated all through his sixth year, and would probably still be dating now if things were just a little different. She’d been a year older than him, and although they tried to meet at the beginning of the summer holidays, their romance, somehow, had been over once she graduated. His ex had told everyone that their breakup was a mutual decision, and because Julian had never made a scene over it, most people believed that was true… including the girl herself. But he knew he could not have convinced her to stay, and he’d refused to play the heartbroken dump-ee. Only a handful of people understood how hard that summer had been for him. Now, though, he had mostly recovered and was prepared to devote his attention fully to his friends, his studies, and his duties as Head Boy.
“I was hoping we’d run into each other, but not quite that way,” said Julian, with a bit of a smile. There were a couple of things he’d wanted to discuss with her after his group’s study session was over.

Looking up she saw who she had collided with and was rather surprised to see that it was the other half to the head duo – Julian, she was the last person she would have expected. Susan just shook her head but still could not help but smiling. Slowly she took his hand that he had offered to help her off the ground. She was grateful, she had never been very graceful and she never tried to pretend to be. “Oh, I’m fine my pride might be a bit sore for a while though, you know being a Gryffindor and all that.” She smirked a little before chuckling for a moment. Susan had let go of his hand and brushed herself down and ran a hand through her hair, to push it off her face. It was a shock when she had found out that the Head Boy had been a Slytherin; the first thing her mother had said was ‘Dumbledore must have officially gone insane’ in which she had replied ‘He is already insane mother, but Dumbledore will simply be Dumbledore.’ There was no way to describe their beloved Headmaster.
“I imagine, I didn’t intend to run into you in such a way, but ya’ know a klutz runs into a lot of things then falls down.” She raised an eyebrow as she poked a bit of fun at herself. They were both on friendly terms, if one could call it that. They had to work together and a partnership would not work so well if they were arguing and constantly at each other’s throats all the time. Susan then bent down and picked up her books she had dropped, not that she would learn anything from them, she was too worried about the future – why did things have to be so difficult? It was not like she had other things on her mind but it seemed that she needed to. Professor McGonagall had told her that she needed to make her choices very soon or places on job roles would be taken and she would be stuck until the following year. It was not something that she wanted to hear, she felt slightly pressured, she had never been good at making choices, heck she was still unsure why she was Head Girl, but that might be something she would never really understanding. It really didn’t take much to confuse Susan.
But then again no-body knew what was around the corner, things always changed and she did not always like change but she would go with it. Susan turned her attention back to Julian and looked at him. “Sorry, got lost there in my mind for a moment.” She told him. “I was actually coming to talk with you later on, just for a general chat, you know get to know each other a little better since we have got to work with each other for the next year and discuss what we need to do before the next meeting with the teachers.” Susan shuffled her feet a little, she was one of these people that could never quite stand still for more than a few moments, even when she was a young child she did the same thing and she never quite grew out of it.
