It had been a few days since Luna had last wandered over to The Burrow, and so, she decided to rectify this. After all, she missed Ron and wanted to see him; it was lovely that she could simply walk over a hill to visit him. She didn't have to worry about alerting any Muggles; she could just slip into a comfortable, brightly-colored (usually) dress and a pair of shoes and frolic through the grass to visit him.
Granted, neither of them had really done that much neighborly visiting when they were younger, but at that point, they hadn't discovered that members of the opposite sex could actually be interesting as opposed to ... simply weird and confusing.
But now, they had both seen the light and were perfectly content to spend time with members of the opposite sex, one in particular. Luna simply loved spending time with Ron; yes, she was still a bit dreamy and could occasionally be easily distracted, but he never thought any less of her for that. And he valued what she said, which was one of the things she'd always wanted.
Even better than that was the fact that he genuinely loved her. And she was in love with him; there was no doubt about that.
Which was another reason she'd put on the very yellow dress she had worn to Bill and Fleur's wedding and was headed towards the Burrow at this very moment.
She didn't want to show up empty-handed, but she hadn't thought to bring anything with her before she left.
Ah, but there were wildflowers! Those would make a lovely bouquet for Mrs. Weasley.
Humming to herself, Luna picked flowers as she walked: daisies, morning glories, a bit of heather, and some wild violets. She really should have thought to bring some dirigible plums along with her, but these would do nicely. Mrs. Weasley wasn't one to be bothered by a guest not bringing anything with her; Luna just wanted to make a nice gesture.
Bunch of freshly-picked wildflowers in her hand (and two in her hair), Luna strolled down the rest of the hill to the Burrow, dreamy smile on her face.
With the same dreamy smile, she knocked on the door, eager to see the Weasley family, and one in particular.

Ron Weasley was nervous about this dinner with Luna, it was the fact he needed to see after the day had experience trying to find a robe for the dinner he would be taking her out to. He had saved for a while to save to take her to a very exclusive restaurant. He just hoped that she liked it, he just wanted her to be happy. And he had heard the food was that good, he wondered if they would let him bring some home, he just didn't want his mother Molly thinking it was better than her cooking, though he did like her cooking as well. "Bloody hell." He muttered as he pulled at the clasp on his robes. They were a faded black colour, so they looked grey instead. He ran a hand through his hair as he began pacing. He had no idea why he was this nervous; it was just another dinner with Luna. "It's only a dinner." He muttered to himself before rolling his eyes and stating scarcatically, "That makes me sound a lot cooler than I was."
Then that was when he looked out of his bedroom and saw a brightly coloured dress in the shade of yellow and he knew instantly that it was Luna. A somewhat goofy appeared on his face and he started too bound down the steps two at a time and he was stopped in his tracks by a spider. Yes this was Ronald Weasley that had stood against Voldemort himself and yet he found himself wanting to face Voldemort again than face a spider than in his eye was the size of a house. "Mum, there is a bloody spider, it's going to eat me." He shouted out. He had heard his mother answer the door, but that now seemed to be the last thing on his mind.
His mother had shouted him saying Luna had arrived, which he knew but the spider. He took a deep breath and ran past the spider that was actually only a small one and he muttered under his breath. "Always following me, swear they follow me in packs waiting for my one moment of weakness." He cursed once more. He then had a sheepish look on his face as he looked at Luna and realised that she would have heard everything he had just said."Hey love." He grinned once more and kissed her cheek. "So erm that was not what it sounded like." He muttered as he babbled, then he cleared his throat. "You look lovely."

Luna knew that Ron had been saving for a while to take her on this date. She had told him many times that he didn't have to, but he had insisted. After all, neither of them had really grown up with that much, but Ron really wanted to take them out tonight.
And so, Luna had agreed, content just to be spending the evening with her wonderful boyfriend.
Once she arrived at the Burrow, she presented the bunch of flowers she had picked to Mrs. Weasley.
"I'll bring some dirigible plums next time," she promised, breaking away from the hug in which Molly had engulfed her. Ron's mother treated her as part of the family now, even more than she had before. It was lovely, really. Almost like having a mother again.
Luna adored her father, but there were times that she desperately missed her mother. And Mrs. Weasley helped to fill that gap in Luna's life.
And then, suddenly, Ron was yelling about spiders. Mrs. Weasley closed the door behind Luna as the yellow-clad girl drifted in.
"Hello," she smiled once Ron had emerged from the upstairs. Her smile widened and, as he kissed her cheek, she slipped her hand into his, twining their fingers together.
"Thank you," she beamed, simply choosing not to talk about the Spider Incident. She knew he was embarrassed by his phobia, and that he wanted to impress her, but he didn't need to try so hard. Luna loved him just the way he was, phobias and all. But she didn't want to embarrass him further, so she stayed mum on the topic.
"You're looking quite spiffing yourself, Ron," she smiled, taking a step back from him to admire him, not letting go of his hand quite yet.
It didn't matter to her that his robe was second-hand or that it was more grey than black; he looked wonderful. He could have worn a burlap sack (though she imagined that would be uncomfortable and that they probably wouldn't let them in at the restaurant, but that was neither here nor there) and he would still be her same, handsome, wonderful Ron.
With another, even brighter smile, Luna pulled her other hand from behind her back, revealing the flower she'd saved, just for him.
Pulling one of the extra pins from her hair, she (reluctantly) untangled her occupied hand from Ron's to attach the flower to the front of his robes.
"You can take it off if you like," she added, almost shyly as she finished pretty much giving him a corsage. "I just wanted to give you something little, since you've already done so much for me." The next chance she got, she was going to go buy Ron a lovely present. She'd just been rather busy with work, unfortunately. But, it was time to remedy that. She was about to go on a lovely date with her boyfriend, and it would be glorious.

Ron stood looking at Luna, he had a smile on his face any time he saw her and with good reason, though he did know his mother had been hitting and her son proposing to Luna, but he had told her he would only do such a thing when he was good and ready. He wanted to know that he could support her without having any worry about such things and at the moment he did have those worries. Ron found himself going bright red when she mentioned that he looked alright himself, he would always try to look his best for himself. What he adored about Luna was that when he was getting angry with something she would simply say his name and her voice would calm down, it was as if she could work miracles, he would give her the world if he could and now he felt like a hopeless fool that was in love.
He squeezed he hand lightly when she took his hand within her own. Ron watched carefully as she pulled out a flower from behind her back and he smiled softly. “Bloody hell Luna, I would let you rule the world if I could.” He finally spoke once more. It was true he would because he truly loved her – he believed in her, even if she was a bit dreamy, he would not have her anyway. He then cleared his voice and straightened up and placed her hand on his arm. “Right betta’ get going; they won’t keep our table if we’re late.” Ron spoke and saw his mum smiling in the background, but he tried to ignore it and he led her out of the door. This was a meal he had been saving up for such a long time, because he wanted to treat Luna.
“How has everything been then? Since it’s been a little while since I have last seen you.” He was babbling a little as they walked to apprate point. It was his own fault that he had not seen her in a while. He had been picking up overtime and working on extra cases to try and get more money together, he was hoping to ask Luna to move in with him, to take their relationship to the next level, but he didn’t want to do that until he could get a home of their own, to show the world that they would be together until the end of time.

If Luna had known about what Mrs. Weasley had been hinting, she would have blushed a brighter scarlet than Ron's hair. Oh, not that she would mind if Ron proposed; quite the contrary! If Ron proposed ... she would probably faint from sheer joy. And then, he would be worried that she would be saying no, probably, fainting from the sheer shock of his question. Quite frankly, there were days that she had thought about proposing, but she knew that that would probably make Ron feel a bit odd. He wanted to be able to support them, she knew, and if she was the one who proposed, that would be a bit unorthodox. "I don't think I'd want to rule the world," she murmured, resting her head on Ron's shoulder momentarily as he put her hand on his arm. She had contemplated wearing a set of her mother's old gloves, today, but right now she was glad she'd decided against them; she could actually feel Ron's skin as opposed to just the gloves she could have worn. But then, Ron said that they should go, which was perfectly fine with her. "All right, love," she smiled, standing on tiptoe (yes, even in her heels) to give Ron a quick kiss before they set off. Keeping her hand in the crook of Ron's arm, she smiled again, thinking about all she'd been doing in the meantime. "Well, I've been working on a bit of research for the Ministry and for St. Mungo's. They want to know how some properties interact together for some medications and other potential side-effects." It was a lot easier than the Muggle way of doing these sorts of things, but it was quite interesting to say the least! "How has work been, love?" she asked, smiling up at him. She was always ready and willing to listen to any stories he had for her, as well as anything he wanted to tell her, period. A smile appeared on his lips when Luna had given him a small kiss; his ears had started to match his hair. If he was going to admit anything then he would admit that he was a fool in love, he was deep in love with Luna Lovegood and he was no ashamed to admit it. “Just been taking on extra shifts, you know so I can treat you a bit more…” He trailed off, he still not give her everything he wanted to, because he simply could not afford it. However, Ron knew that Luna did not care about money and simply loved him for who he was and even his abnormal family.
They were taking a small walk towards the point they were looking, since they had more than enough time to get to dinner. Ron placed a hand on the hand that was on his arm, he could not be happier than he was at the moment, it was the fact that the war was now over and the world once more in a period of peace and it was about time as well. He was ready for the quiet life, to settle down with Luna and have a simple and happy life with her and his friends around him. Luna was the perfect girl for him and he should have known it all along, but he had never thought about it until he had gotten to know her much better than he did before.
Everyone was a little surprised when they had both became an item but they had all been supportive which he was very grateful for. Ron then took Luna’s hand off his arm and threaded his fingers with hers and held her hand lightly within his own as they walked. Ron had surprised himself, he had never thought himself to be a romantic, but here he wanted to give Luna everything. “I am not sure what to say, you make me speechless, makes me wonder what you see in me…” He spoke once more as they continued to walk.

Well, if Ron's ears were going to match his hair every time Luna kissed him, he might as well paint them red now. Luna loved Ron dearly, and kissing him was quite fun, as well. Which was why she made sure to do so as often as possible, without making absolutely everyone around them uncomfortable. Granted, Luna didn't really mind making people uncomfortable, but with this sort of thing, she'd been on the other end of the uncomfortableness too often to do that to other people.
Luna turned her silvery-grey eyes to look at Ron while they walked. He was sweet, wanting to treat her, but it was not necessary at all. "You just come home in one piece and that's all the treat I need," she murmured, quite serious about that. Being an Auror was potentially dangerous, and there were still Death Eaters out there. Ron was a good Auror, but that didn't mean that Luna didn't worry; she worried about all of her Auror friends.
"Probably just the wrackspurts," she said in answer to Ron's comment about making him speechless. And then she winked at him and grinned, clearly making a joking reference to their school-days when she had believed practically everything her father had published in The Quibbler. As she was out doing the sort of research that would disprove much of his theories, she had matured quite a bit. Not to mention the whole war; that sort of thing makes a person grow up quickly. She still had an air of innocence about her, though, that even the war couldn't crush.
She smiled as Ron moved her hand to his, linking their fingers. And then, a bit of a serious expression returned to her face. "Well, Ron, you're smart. Yes, you are," she repeated, anticipating a disparaging look, remark, or sound, "you're funny; you care about your friends and family above all; you're brave; you're loyal; you never once patronized me, even when Harry and Hermione did, to make me feel better; you're willing to accept my ... lunacy," she grinned a bit, winking again, "and I love you," she finished, smiling broadly.

It would seem that Ron still not used to the idea of why Luna would truly with him. He was sloppy, still slightly childish and just overall royal prat most of the time when he wanted to be since he often spoke before he thought about what he was saying. It happened all the time and he would say things that he would later come to regret, it was just the way he was. But Luna did bring the better side of him out when she was with him and that was something is was rather thankful for, she was the reason he fought to come back in one piece because he hated the idea of never living a full lifetime with her just as he wanted, that much sure he was sure of. Ron was very much a romantic at heart; though he would not willing admit it openly.
“You know I will still try to give you everything I can.” He still spoke strongly. Ron knew that Luna did not want to be pampered, but he wanted to give her everything he could and one day provide for her. To not live each day on the poverty line like he had done when he grown up, he would do her proud, that was a promise he had made himself when he had seen that his relationship with Luna was serious and for a lifetime.
Ron then listened to her and he looked almost shocked as if he was going to fall flat on his face as she said that he was smart. It was far from it, he had almost failed his exams if it had not been for Hermione. Now he did miss her with all his heart, she was his best friend; he didn’t believe that she was gone. He turned his attention back to Luna again; he could not help but smiling at her smile and then chuckling. “You will always be my Looney Luna.” He grinned. “And I willingly love you as well, though why you put up with this git is beyond me.” Ron then gave her a soft peck on her lips, before they continued their walk, it was quite a bit of a walk but it allowed them to speak time alone together. Luna was his life and his soul mate, no matter how corny he hated for it to sound.
