Braxton smiled as another patron entered the pub. It was a busy Saturday as well as a Hogsmeade weekend. He loved his job as he got to see some of his daughter's old friends. It made him sad to think about her but she would always be in his heart, as would his wife. He looked down at his wedding ring, he hadn't took it off in years, he needed to but he couldn't bring himself to do it. I miss you both, but I know you are happy and free of pain. At that thought he smiled before taking an order of butterbeers to a table of teens. "Enjoy." He said as he smiled at them before turning and going back to behind the bar.
The black man looked at a very drunk wizard and shook his head. That man always ended up drinking too much and refused to listen to Braxton when he offered him a hot cup of coffee.
He looked at the door once more but sighed as he saw it was more students from the school. He let the other bartender get that bunch as Braxton walked over to the adult that had came in after the students. "What can I do ya for?" He smiled at the person. Words: 217 Tags: Anyone Notes: Yay! Neville had recently received the official word that he was now an Auror. It had all been pretty much a formality , from the beginning of training, even. Everyone knew that Harry had been tapped by the new leadership not just to be an Auror, but to lead the new office of Aurors that had basically been decimated in the conflict Voldemort and his allies. Nothing had been said, but he knew many assumed that Ron would be his deputy. Neville had been asked, along with some other 7th years that had been members of the DA to be Aurors as well. Neville had been unsure from the beginning, whether he really should be an Auror.
He felt the natural pull to the classroom, back to Hogwarts, and the unspoken dream he had of being a Professor there and teaching his favorite subject, Herbology. It seemed natural enough to him, the slower pace of academic life seemed better suited to his nature. And given the rough time he had had in his first several years at the school an understanding of what the more average students went through that he thought might be useful. On the other side was Gran and the family history, especially that of his parents, that he felt obliged to respect and live up to.
It was true, that since the Battle of Hogwarts, his Gran had never compared him negatively again to his father. He could also tell by the gleam in her eyes how she had felt about him being asked to become an Auror. In the end , though, he had felt a duty, both to the wizarding world, and particularly to Harry Potter himself that he could not, in the end, refuse. The formalities were ended he expected. There would be no public initiation, he assumed. He would just me another member of the brotherhood/sisterhood of Aurors. He smiled lightly at the reputation he now carried as the one who had summoned the legendary sword of Godric Gryffindor and had slayed Voldemort's snake, Nagini.
Today, though, was not a day for such thoughts. He thought that it would be a good time to stop by the Three Broomsticks, a place he had not been by hardly ever before, and do a bit of celebrating. He expected it would be private celebrating. If he wished he expected that he could request a private room upstairs if he desired. Just ahead of him, though, was a little mob of students that had to clear before he made it to the bar. He noticed, off to the side that there was a wizard that was making a particular nuisance of himself and he hoped he wouldn't be required to do something about him. As he considered all of this a dark-skinned bartender approached him and asked him what he would like. Neville understood that keeping bar could be a thankless job, among many, and then the least he could do was make the man's job as pleasant as he could, so giving him a pleasant smile, he replied, "Why thank you sir for inquiring so quickly ...... a FireWhiskey if you would ... and take your time ... I am in no hurry and it looks like you have many patrons to attend to, that are at least as deserving of your time."

Gwen Lawrence was still getting over the fact that she had seen her ex-husband for the first time in such a long time and had finally found the reason why he had left her in the first place. It was so much to take in and she just needed to get out of the castle for a short while and just escape, even if it was only going to be a for a short while, she did not mind at all. But Gwen was strong and she would get through it as she did before at least she had some form of closure now and that was the best thing she could have asked for. Right now though all she needed was a strong drink, any form would do and soon would be better than later.
Walking to the nearest pub which just happened to be The Three Broomstick, she was dressed in her black jeans, a dark blue top, her leather jacket and heeled boots. This was casual for her, but she always wore her heels unless she was running or duelling, she just felt strange without her heels on her feet. Soon enough she had arrived at the pub and saw that it was slightly busy as it normally was, it was rare to see a Professor from Hogwarts in the pub during the school year, but since it was her time off and the weekend she was allowed to have a few drinks to just let herself unwind, she really should talk to her sister Emma about it. What a mess her life was.
Soon she walked to the bar and sat down on the stool waiting to be served, she was patient since it was busy and it gave her a bit more time to think what she actually wanted, though she had a rough idea of what she needed. It was then the man behind the bar asked what she wanted. “Oh sorry, I was lost in my own world there; I would like a fire whiskey please.” She said with a slight smile on her face. Gwen had watched the man before as he had been serving he seemed to have a slightly sad look in his eyes and it was something she didn’t like seeing. “Whatever is sad in your life, I am sure one day it will get better.” She offered with yet another smile.

Braxton turned and got the man a glass before pouring in the fire whiskey he had asked for. He gave the drink to the man before turning to the woman that he had asked what she had wanted before. He nodded his head before getting her a glass of fire whiskey, as he sat the drink in front of her his smile faded a bit.
He shook his head, "No, it never gets better. The pain lessens day by day but it doesn't get better." The loss of both his wife and daughter was too great for him. But Braxton had to keep going, until the day he died he would never let himself forget the two women in his life.
"You're a professor at the school, right?" He wondered if she had known his daughter. Kaylee didn't really talk about any professor but Snape, he could tell his little girl had a crush on the man. He wanted to know how she was doing in the school, before she had died. He wanted to know if any one had noticed that she was anorexic or not. At the thought of his daughter he touched the photo of her that was hanging from his neck. Words: 208 Tags: Neville, Gwen Notes: Lyrics: Running Up That Hill - Within Temptation

Neville had told the barkeep to take his time and take care of his other patrons. He saw, though, that he rather quickly, that he had collected a glass and filled it up with what he had asked for, some FireWhiskey. He noted that he also provided the woman who was next to him with a FireWhiskey as well.
There was something different about the man, though, he thought. He couldn't make the connection in his mind that he had ever net him before. He did notice that the man had no smile on his face, even after completing the two orders, and he seemed to have a general aura of sadness around him.
Neville, though, did not say anything, he didn't really think it was his place, especially since he was not a regular at the Three Broomsticks. However, the woman who was next to him did seem to bring a voice to what Neville had felt. The way the man replied he seemed to confirm the sadness Neville had felt. He naturally wondered whether the man had suffered some personal loss during the recent conflict with Voldemort, as so many had.
Neville felt quite awkward, but still felt he had to say something, and he did. It wasn't directed at anyone in particular, though. "That is the way it is with the pain of loss. there are so many types of things that can cause one pain .... many types of losses that can cause pain. Sometimes, indeed, pain, especially emotional pain, never seems to go away," he said to himself as he took a long sip of his FireWhiskey, and thought of his own parents. He heard him say something about her being ..... what ..... a Professor at Hogwarts? That got Neville's attention as he saw the barkeep touch a picture that hung around his neck, which Neville found curious as well.
