Well, today was going to be an unusual class day for Professor Snape. Not only was he continuing in his position as the Defence Against the Dark Arts professor, he was going to have students from each of the Houses in his class today, from several different years.
Yes, this combining of classes made sense, but at the same time, it was difficult on the professor. He had to do his best to teach to a level that all of the students would be able to attain.
However, he had already decided what he was going to be working on with the students this class period. Yes, it would be difficult for the younger students, but when they needed to know this information, they would have a bit of a head start.
As it was, he wasn't changing his lesson plan, not today. He was already having to help the new Potions professor stay on top of everything; he hadn't had time to plan another lesson, not at this point.
And so, nonverbal spells it was.
With a flick of his wand, he prepared the classroom for the students that would soon be flooding in.

In all honesty, it was a completely normal, everyday day. She and Lux had gotten up early enough to take a shower together, both get ready - the redhead still found it amusing how long most girls took with make-up and the like - and to head down to the Great Hall for breakfast before the usual rush of students - and girls getting ready - could trample them. They had parted for morning classes after breakfast, as they always did. Since Lux wasn't comfortable with showing certain type of affection in public, Sam would settle for simply a friendly hug, before she headed off to morning Transfiguration, rather than the kiss she so desperately wanted.
Morning classes had gone by also as usual, save that she had caught the rumor that was going around between classes. It seemed that today's DADA class would have a variety of students, from all Houses and Years. Well, it would certainly be interesting, she had conceded mentally, as she had made her way to the Great Hall for lunch (again, something she didn't indulge in, but endured simply for Lux's sake). Of course, though she was glad to have a class with her girlfriend, she was also a bit worried. After all, though she had a good number of friends - she wasn't the most popular, but she wasn't a loner by any approximation - almost none of them ran in the same social circles, and not all were from the same House or Year. It was a safe bet she would come into contact with almost all of them here. She just couldn't help wondering how her friends would react to each other...
Well, as only time would tell that, it was no use worrying over it now.

A class with students from all Houses and all Years? What was Professor Snape - what was Dumbledore thinking? It would be nothing short of a blood bath,, it was only a matter of when the blood started flowing, and who drew first blood. In all, one Annabelle Lee Stuart, Captain and Seeker of the Ravenclaw Quidditch Team, was not looking forward to this. To the class itself, yes, but to the occupants? Not so much. While yes, this would be a good time to examine the skills of her friends from other Houses and Year, she really didn't want to be caught up in the ensuing war.
Annabelle wasn't fond of the House Rivalry, and often held herself back from most of the squabbles - even the ones involving her own House. Thus, she could see the good and bad points in all of the Houses, and she prided herself on not being as pigheaded as some people about the whole thing. Honest to God, it just annoyed her; really, couldn't they all just focus on learning without this blasted feud getting in the way? That would have saved many a person's sanity, but she was also realistic enough to know it wasn't going to happen any time soon.
Shaking herself from her unneeded thoughts, she entered the classroom. She cast a glance around, and nodded to both the Professor and the redhead she knew to be his daughter. Annabelle smiled slightly, when Sam greeted her with her signature cheeky grin and a wave. She and Sam knew each other mostly through Quidditch, but they would occasionally end up studying together, if they were both pulling a late night in the library. They weren't quite friends, as they both had different circles - many in the redhead's case - but they were closer than acquaintances, as well.
She supposed, she thought, as she took her seat close enough to the redhead that she would be included in the periphery of the skinny girl's rather large group of friends, that they were more study-buddies than anything. Not that they went out of their way for such, of course; it usually just tended to happen by accident. Focusing her attention on the class that was about to begin, the brunette steeled herself for what she knew would end up happening.

He had to get to class, but the Slytherin couldn’t bring himself to care. It didn’t matter if he was late or not; he’d learn whatever it was anyways. It wasn’t as if it was the end of the world if he showed up late anyways; so what is Snape was the professor? Snape was his head of house, sure; but Alec didn’t particularly enjoy going to class, no matter who the professor was. He skipped out on McGonagall a few times as well. Snape, McGonagall, Dumbledore. You name them, he skipped their classes. Though, to be fair, Dumbledore only taught McGonagall’s class if the old witch had something else more important to attend. Aleric figured she was skipping out on her own class as well; though to get away from the students. He skipped for the opposite reason, to get away from the teachers. Well, that and because he didn’t care about whether or not he missed something.
As he lounged about in the Slytherin Common room, the sixth year heard some pretty interesting things. It turns out Snape had decided to make that class a mix of all years and all houses. Surely he couldn’t have been that injured from the Second Wizarding World, started by his very own great uncle or some distant relative like that. Still, Snape deciding to teach a variety of students like that? Alec was sure it was bad enough with double classes, but with all four houses? Merlin, the man must have lost his mind during that epic battle of Hogwarts. Learning about it was probably the only thing the sixth year had paid attention to in History of Magic. Alec was really interested in any fight, really. But the epic battle that turned Hogwarts Castle into something akin to ruins? He figured it must have been such a big and intense battle. If only there were something like that now. He’d be there within the second it was realized.
A couple of giggling fifth year girls passed by the couch, blinking flirtatiously at the Slytherin who lounged on the couch as if he had nothing to do. With a slightly cocky grin, Alec raised an eyebrow at them, causing the girls to giggle and look away. As they did, the teen rolled his eyes. Girls like them were annoying, but he had to admit, they were good for a snog when he needed it. Another student rushed out of the common room, following the footsteps of the giggling girls. That was right. Class. He had to get to class. The Slytherin scoffed a bit and turned his attention to the flames from the fireplace. He pondered whether or not to just skip like he usually does, or to actually go to class for once. If he went, he figured that he would get some entertainment. After all, you really can’t stick the four houses together for once class. Between the know-it-alls and the know-nothings, there would bound to be a fight sometime. Sitting up, Alec moved to gather his stuff and made his way out the common room. If there wasn’t a fight, then he could start one anyways. He paused at the end of the couch, and grabbed the robe that lay over the arm of the couch carelessly.
Swinging his bag and robe over his shoulder, Aleric sauntered his way out of the common room in his usual careless gait. Seeing some others in his year, Alec nodded his head at them in greeting. “Oi! Ace, where are you headed to?” one of them called. Alec smirked a bit, shrugging nonchalantly. “Just headin’ to class. It’s supposed to have all years from all four houses in there.” he replied, a smug smirk on his face. Oh yes, especially with the younger years, there would most definitely be some trouble. Pick on the youngsters, and the olders students come to their rescue. Oh joy, maybe there is hope after all. His friends just shook their heads at him and chuckled. “Well, let us know how that goes. We’ll be around for the fight.”
Alec chuckled darkly, and turned, so he was walking backwards facing his friends. “Who says there’s gonna be a fight?” he grinned. His friends just laughed. They knew him. Anyone who’s heard of him knows of his reputation. You know, the one where he fights anyone and everyone. Turning back around he smirked when the third years in front of him began to move out of his way, intimated by his size and his scowl. He was late, that much was obvious. If it were any other situation, Alec would have just walked right past the classroom, whether or not the door was open. Instead, he figured it might be worth his time. If not, then he’d just start one anyways. Either way, he’d get his fight. So, even after the bell was rung, and he was more than a few minutes late, Aleric opened the door, and sauntered his way in. His devilish smirk apparent on his face as he glanced around the classroom. He saw a miraculously empty seat and took it. Luckily for him, the seat next to him was empty, as he was sitting at the edge. Taking his seat, he lounged back, noticing a fifth year Slytherin and a sixth year Ravenclaw in front of him. Heh, boring. It was then he noticed the Ravenclaw was the Captain of the Quidditch team. Hm, maybe not so boring after all. But hey, he would cream her in Quidditch, so it didn’t matter if he picked a fight with her anyways.
He preferred to fight with different people anyways. His eyes wandered around the room, not bothering to even try and pretend to pay attention. His eyes locked on a small little second? Maybe third year? Oh yes, maybe his time here wouldn’t be wasted after all.

Lux was running a tad late but if she was lucky she would get to class before she was really late. She had been walking the halls in a daydream as she thought about Sam, she still couldn't believe she was dating her. Though she knew she needed help she wouldn't tell that to the girl's face. She absolutely would not tell Snape what Sam does to herself.
Lux knew that if she did tell what Sam did she might end up telling what she did to herself and Lux did not want that. As she hurried down the corridors she noticed people watching her but she ignored them. When she got close to the classroom she slowed down to catch her breath then calmly walked into the classroom.
Once inside Lux scanned the room then smiled as she saw Sam, she walked over to a desk beside her then sat down. She looked at the redhead and grinned at her. "Hey, Sammy." She wanted to kiss the girl so badly but she didn't really feel comfortable showing public affection.
She turned her attention to the professor and wondered why he had chose to put all the years and houses together in one class. To her he was asking for a blood bath.

Upon noting that someone she knew had entered the classroom, Sam quickly focused on the person. Ah, it was Annabelle. The thin redhead greeted the brunette Ravenclaw with a grin and a wave, before removing her attention to the front of the room. When a fellow Slytherin arrived, Sam was a bit more cautious about her greeting. Nodding to Aleric, once she noted that it was he who had arrived, she greeted him with a simple, "Captain." She would apologize to him about her having nearly incapacitated herself at the last team practice later (she may not have fallen from her broom at a high enough height to kill her, but she had sustained a concussion and a variety of broken bones along with the usual cuts and scrapes which came with such); for now she just wondered whom else of her friends - or acquaintances - would show up.
And then, the proverbial sun of Sam's life entered the room. Composed and prompt as always - well, perhaps not quite so prompt - the redhead could tell that Lux had been rushing to get here, but had stropped to catch her breath before entering the classroom. They were best friends, after all, so she knew the blonde's habits almost as well as she knew her own. But, they were also so much more. When Lux seated herself in the desk beside Sam's own, the Chaser returned the smile. "Hey, Luxie, I was almost worried you weren't going to show," she teased gently. The redhead pointedly ignored the longing in the blonde's eyes, knowing it was mirrored in her own.
Though she did brush Lux's hand slightly after the girl had seated herself, Sam did little else to convey her feelings to the blonde.
